Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

That's good going. Probably lost about 10lbs so far. Had a bit of a heavy weekend. Son was visiting from Nottingham so we ate and drank more than usual and got a takeaway on Friday evening. Didn't lose anything but because I know why I'm not too bothered. Didn't gain anything either so that's OK. However on the positive side my sessions in the gym are definitely having an effect. Clothes that were a bit snug a few weeks ago are feeling looser so something must be toning up. I should really measure myself as well as weigh to see progress. I've got a pair of jeans that I really want to wear again so that's my next goal. Calorie counting is the future. There are no 'bad' foods. Everything in moderation. Once it gets a bit warmer and lighter I'll start walking of an evening. That should add to the exercise too.
Thanks for asking.
That's absolutely fantastic anje , well done!

After my tiring game of ping pong last night I went to the gym for the first time in ages today.

Took it very gently and all fine. I was only a pound above my normal weight so very happy with that.

Morning all, lovely bright morning here hope the sun is shining for you all, if not physically then metaphorically (Dictionary for breakfast this morning lol) Pleased to see you posting again @Terrarian. Good going in the table tennis @jazzy. Hope to see Sassy back for the match today. Have a great day all.
Thanks Gwladys, yes the return of the Sassy one is overdue. Hopefully she also has good news on the job front.

Are you going to go to London Rd to see City in the Cup?

As you say Anj it isn't just about weight, it's also about inches that you can lose from body toning exercises. There used to be a Rosemary Conley book we used that gave examples of exercises that also had a chart that they encouraged you to measure yourself weekly to see how many inches you had lost. Included neck, chest, waist, hips, arms and legs.

That's good news Fred. Are you exercising or just cutting out stuff or both?
No exercise yet. Just cutting out snacking and having smaller portions. Plus I don't eat out much or have any takeaways. Probably drinking a bit less too. I mean, if Cal felt like a G&T it would be rude not to have one with her.

I'm just reminded of the toning exercises I used to do that I mentioned in the above post and I may start them again. Plus I'll be walking more when the weather improves and around here that can be quite strenuous and will build stamina.

Didn't you try out the gym on the boat Jazz?
Nooooo.
I tried it once and found using a treadmill whilst at sea nauseating....literally.

To be honest I train a lot so was more than happy to give my body a complete break for 3 weeks ( self isolated for a week prior to going ).

One interesting thing about P&O and the cruise Fred was that there was so much capacity that they were offering back to back cruises for only an extra £300.

It was never a possibility for us due to mum and the animals.

However a number of couples took advantage of the offer. Only problem is you have to take LFT before 2nd cruise and we heard of at least 2 couples failing the test and being carted off to the Queen Victoria ( no not the pub in Eastenders) which is docked just off Bridgetown and being used as a hospital ship for isolating. Bizarre to se guests led off by 2 guys in hazmat suits!

Friends of mine were doing numerous back to back cruises on the Iona. They'd basically booked 3 months away o there starting with the Christmas cruise. They got chucked off early January because he tested positive. I thought it would have been a lot easier just to let them self isolate until they had 2 negative tests

How's the fitness regime going Anj?. Still on track?

i weighed myself this morning and I've lost in the region of half a stone since I last weighed myself before my trip up to Liverpool. So that's around about 2 pounds a week which is the sort of figure I aim for. Not sure how much of that is down to my change in eating habits over the last 3/4 days since I got the dental abscess. On the flip side, I haven't been out and about much so I expect my increase in exercise from walking once the weather improves to have a positive impact too. As I said, I'm not setting myself any specific targets, just looking to lose some of my excess weight. I'm still eating and drinking the things i enjoy, as Blue can confirm from my posting history. I've now lost nearly 2 stone, probably since Cal's death if I'm honest, Not a bad start.
It is not called "having the stuffing knocked out of you " for nothing Fred .You have done well .

On the abscess front, things are pretty much the same as they were 36 hours ago. I'm not suffering the same pain levels which are manageable, but the swelling is still there and eating is also still awkward. So I decided that I needed to medical treatment after all. I tried speaking to my GP surgery 3 times yesterday without success. Each time i called the message was that the receptionists were all busy, the queue of people waiting was full, and to call back later or call 999 if an emergency. Brilliant. Luckily this morning I have been able to obtain an alternative supply of antibiotics which I have started to take, so i'm hopeful that things will start to clear in a couple of days. The tablets came in capsule form. Urgh. I'm not sure whether i have mentioned this before but me and tablets do not go well together. Give me a piece of steak and I'll match Scooby Doo in my endeavours. But even the tiny anti hay fever pills I have to break and chew before swallowing. These capsules end up in my mouth until they eventually melt and it usually takes a whole glass of water and at least 2 minutes to get them down. I'm such a wimp. ;)
Fred try taking them with joghurt ,it seems that your brain is expecting lumps and down they go .

Afternoon all. I've just used my lunch time to get ready for the big night tonight. Picking Mr F up at 4.15, going for an early tea and then off to the match. I've decided to park at a place called Heworth and we can get the Metro in. You can get a train straight to St James's which saves driving round Newcastle Centre and trying to find somewhere to park. Additionally I'm OK finding my way into Newcastle but getting out causes me no end of problems. I always seem to end up on my way to Berwick and Northumberland! Very much looking forward to it. I'm wearing a blue stripey top tonight. Navy blue but that's my disguised wearing of the colours. Hopefully the Frank effect can continue and Dom might play some part.
