Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hang on in there for now mate. You will be assigned a specialist consultant and I would avoid over thinking things until you and your family have had a chance to sit down with them to go through the prognosis in detail. My recommendation is that you have at ;east one of your daughters with you at that first meeting, not just to offer support but so they can fully understand the depth of the situation too. Hope you get yourself sorted out quickly so you can concentrate on Mrs M.
Good advice @Barnfred 55 and @anjelikaferrett

Hi everybody. How's it going? I don't know where today has gone - in training all morning looking at extremist behaviour and does it transfer to the workplace. Quite interesting actually. Loads of admin to do this afternoon so although busy, not very productive. It's very windy here this afternoon and also very cold because of the wind.

@Methuselah. how are you and your wife doing? I've been thinking of you a lot over the last few days. I hope you don't mind me sharing this. In 2017 my Mum was diagnosed with bone cancer. She didn't want treatment but, to be honest, she had avoided the doctor for so long, I'm not sure that treatment would have been an option anyway. However it was her decision and we had to respect it. The doctors said three months at most. We made sure that Mum was on the right medication and was as pain free and as comfortable as possible. We had nine more months with her - and it was good quality of life. If Mrs M is adamant that she does not want treatment then there is no reason why she cannot enjoy a good quality of life with little pain. I'm sure you're awesome daughters will have thought of all that though. Much love to you all x

@Terrarian are you OK? Hope the meds are still working and did you try any of the new suggested shopping list items?
A very beautifully worded post anje.

My dad died from cancer. He had chemo and yes it probably extended his life but he only had 8 months from diagnosis until the end and much of that he wasn't with it and had no great quality of life.

Its a rather odd situation. My wife has asbestosis. In her teens, she worked at BBA (British Belting and Asbestos) for several years and even though she was office based she obviously picked it up from somewhere. It's taken all this time to show itself.

Anjelika Many thanks for your lovely post. Some very useful information there too. It doesn't help much that I am under the weather at the moment with both Doc and Hospital appointments over the next few days. Could do with getting sorted asap.
I can imagine that the place was full of asbestos dust and fibres in those days and it wouldn't matter where you worked- you would still be breathing it in. I've heard it can takes years to show after you've been exposed to asbestos. Hope your appointments are all good.

Sending my thoughts and best wishes to you both.?

Morning gang,
So the weekend is almost upon us. I know it's almost an unwritten rule on here not to talk.about football but absolutely dreading the game tomorrow.

Usually Friday is the green light to have a few glasses of wine but after drinking non stop for 2 weeks of the holiday ( never drunk but had a few every day ) me and Mrs J are knocking it on the head until the end of the month.

Housework, gym and gardening today with weather forecast being good.

Pleased to report that the Jazzy bodyclock is back to normal but like @blue1948 I have slept fabulously the last 2 nights 10 hours and 8 hours respectively.

@Methuselah my thoughts are with you. Such a sad situation for you.

Ah well time to get up and make Mrs Js breakfast. Have a smashing day all you lovely people.

Morning all. Weathers a bit gloomy down here today. The antibiotics are still working their magic as I continue to improve from my dental abscess. Zero symptoms at all now other than a touch of numbness in my gums. This mornings efforts to swallow the capsule (my 7th) was even more pathetic than usual, with pieces of the capsule getting stuck to my upper mouth thereby making me choke. I really really am a complete wimp. The contents of the capsule don't taste as foul as I remember though, which makes me think I may have had covid without realising and my taste buds are still affected by it. May explain why last nights beef in red wine stew tasted so bloody good. ;)

How are you and the family coping @Methusaleh ? Is Mrs M coming round to the idea of accepting treatment for her condition?

How are you doing @Terrarian.? Still managing your situation?

@NeroCeasar. How's your family coming to terms with your MILs diagnosis?

There's a few others we haven't seen for a while in here that I'm missing already. @Bluetintedspecs, @larbert toffee, @Brett Angell Delight, @tommye, and @Harryflashman. Hope you're all keeping well and we hear from you in here soon. ;) Edit. Plus Sassy of course but that goes without saying. Which is why I didn't say anything. lol

Hope everybody else has a good day. Having a smoked mackerel salad for lunch and a second go at the beef stew tonight. In between I'm going to try on a few more of my old clothes and see if anything else fits.
Hi Fred, been watching from afar, busy doing a few extra hours at work and resting up whilst being a prisoner in our own home due to the bad weather.

Managed an evening out last night in lieu of Valentines Day which I'm working, Mrs LT and I were out in Falkirk for a few drinks and a nice meal at a Himalayan restaurant.
My mum in law has just been diagnosed with Parkinsons disease so last last night was a little break from that scenario which the family are just coming to terms with, she's very quickly gone from being a strong independent woman to a frail lady needing almost daily attention.

Sadly there's so much bad news about, everyone seems to have something going on and my thoughts are with those whom are currently preoccupied with care or caring for others.

How are things with you Fred? You're planned and current meals are certainly making my mouth water.

Could you tell me what's happened to Sassy? I followed things back to the spat regarding Mina, is she taking a sabbatical?
She is such a positive force of nature throughout the site, she is sorely missed.

I am going to rest up before my evening shift and help with the domestic chores, I hope everyone has a good day out there.

Sorry to hear about your mum in law LT. But you're right, everybody seems to be getting bad news at the moment.

Not sure about Sassy. Somebody PMd me to say that she's just taking some time away from the forum, but I'm not sure whether that person has actually exchanged messages with her or is just presuming this. Anyway you're absolutely right to say she is sorely missed and I hope she reads this and the get's the clear message.

It's a lovely sunny day down here and I'm going to walk around to see Cal's old workmate. It's a round walk of about 2 miles up and down hills so it's a decent workout and will help burn off the calories of the posh sausage butty I'm planning for lunch. Then I need to get a chicken breast out of the freezer for tonight's Thai Red chicken curry.

You enjoy your walk and visit to Cal's friend, you'll no doubt have a lot to talk about, that will be nice. Posh sausage butty sounds delicious and Thai Red curry to look forward to, you talk my language Fred.
Have a great day my friend.
