Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all. The power was off for about two hours last night. Came back on but we've got no Internet. BT saying widespread disruption in our area. So I'm in the office. This was very traumatic because I had to 1) wash my hair 2) dress appropriately I.e not the jumper I had on yesterday that has soup spilt down the front of 3) wear shoes - my feet are killing me already 4) apply makeup. On the positive side it's nice to talk to people I'm not related to and I'm rocking the "working in the office" look rather than "homeless chic"

You mean you don't automatically do all of the above on a daily basis for the benefit of Mr F? :)

Afternoon all,

Been under the weather the past few days, but well on the mend now.

We managed to avoid the worst of storm Dudley down here in Kent, but it looks like storm Eunice will be affecting pretty much the whole country on Friday. I see the Met Office have issued a red warning for the South West, so make sure you stay safe @Barnfred 55.

Not really doing much today, just continuing to recuperate. I'll have a bit of a thread catch up this afternoon.

Hope all you lovely people have a good day. ?

get well soon BTS

We missed the brunt of yesterdays storm down here, luckily because it was still pretty bad. Yeah, I believe Friday is going to be pretty scary. The coastal area's will get it worst; I'm about a mile inland. But i still won't be venturing outside.
Make sure you take care Fred. Just finished refixing the door to the animal feed shed. Let's hope my crap DIY skills are not exposed by Storm Eunice.

In the latest forecast we are on the northern edge of it but Devon and Cornwall look like taking the full brunt.

We're on amber warning around by us. Still gusts of upto 70mph though. Looks like the red area is going to be the Bristol Channel area, so North Devon and South Wales. Watch out @roydo.

Yeah, I have considered going public with this as I know I would have public sympathy/empathy on my side. I think it's the way they told me one thing, then quickly moved 180 degrees without even telling me that's really got my goat up. I've decided to let the cruise club have a go first, and then I have the President/CEO as a back stop if that doesn't work. I've also considered Spotlight, the BBC local news channel down here. They have a spot on a Friday evening when they champion good causes and take up the fight on your behalf. As you say, these companies that rely so much on customer service reputation don't like bad publicity.

Don't like going back over old ground really but I've documented a few of the things P&O got wrong in the Mental Health thread. I posted in there a few times over a period of a couple of weeks from the 24th September, the morning Cal died. Some of it was pretty poor on their part when I think back.
That's terrible the way you've been treated by P&O Fred, but it looks like you're doing all the right things, and in the right order, to resolve this in your favour. I'm sure that once it gets kicked upstairs at P&O they'll reconsider. They'd be stupid not to because, bearing in mind the cirumstances, it would be very bad publicity for them.

Companies taking the piss has always been a bit of a bugbear for me. I almost took a company to the small claims court twice because I knew without doubt I was in the right. Only cost me £40 first time and £80 the second time to register the claim online (depends how much you're claiming), which you get back if you win. The first company backed down as soon as they got the paperwork and the second one backed down the day before the court hearing. I was a bit disappointed really, as by that time I was expecting to go to court and was looking forward to presenting my case.

When the company owner turned up to collect his faulty goods and hand over my refund, I told him he should read the Sale of Goods Act. He said,"Oh, I've read it alright," to which I replied, "In that case, you're not just deluded, but stupid, too."

I'm sure that you will do what's right for you Fred.

Mention of Spotlight takes me back to when I lived in Plymouth.

Fern Britton was a young presenter on Spotlight and one Friday I found myself in Barbarellas ( by the Continental Hotel , still there who knows ) chatting her up.

Suffice to say I didn't get anywhere lol .
That takes me back Jazzy. I went to Barbarella's in London once in 1993. Closed down years ago, but I remember that particular night well because it was the night me and Mrs B became, erm, more than just friends. ;)
