Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Happy matchday, friends! I hope everyone is doing well, especially those of you having to deal with Eunice's high winds and furor. I apologize about my absence but given the incident that happened a few weeks ago I felt the need to step away from the forum, by choice. But I've missed everyone a lot and I appreciate all the posts and messages that I received during the time that I was away. It is going to take me some time to catch up with this thread and I probably won't answer everyone's post while I was absent, or I am going to sound like Zatty in steroids ? But know that every day that I was away I thought of each of you and missed the comradeship that we have formed here so it wasn't easy to be away, but it was necessary!

I can't believe how much has happened with Everton since I've been gone. Watching us played last week was one of the most exciting performances that I've witness our Blues playing, it felt like I was watching a brand new squad. Lampard seems to be raising our player's confidence and desire to perform like no other manager has been capable of doing in recent years, even Ancelotti. So, I'm feeling very optimistic about our future. Sure, it is not going to be an easy path, especially given the bad shape Benitez left us on the table and some of the teams we have to play in the next few weeks. But Frank certainly seems to have the right spirit, strategy, and tactics to makes us hope of better days, and years ahead :)

COYB! Arriba los Caramelos!
Ayyyyy, you’re back! Good to see you here again.

You would absolutely buzz off an away game with our lot.
My throat is still sore after yesterday, it’s amazing how you get drawn into it sometimes.
I would buzz going to any Everton game. I dream of the day I finally get to go to one in the UK. The one we went to Orlando was very entertaining but the atmosphere was more lively with the Colombian fans than the Everton fans but I’m sure it is so different going to a game there.

There is more cocaine at an away of ours than in Colombia !

Good evening folks. I've been a reader today rather than a poster. Have loved all the talk of Ireland, Somerset and Gaelic sports. My Irish Granny was a huge fan of it. She hated football -UK version but did have a little picture of George Best stuck to her mirror. He's Irish she would say if anybody cared to ask why.

Weather has been grim here today. Definitely a staying in day. Hope you are feeling better @larbert toffee and also @Bluerover.
Sometimes I also just enjoy reading instead of posting.

Ange, Did you ended up completing the job application? What sort of job is it? Also in public service?

So happy you sent me that it made my wife so proud .
When I was a teenager I was puzzled ,if you walked in rain from a to b would you get more wet if you ran .This was later taken up by I believe Sheffield university as a course .
Today I was thinking who works hardest the winner of a race or the last place competitor ?
Answers please
It made me so proud for humanity, Finnish people seem to be top human beings.

Hmmmmmmm that’s a really good question, they probably both work as hard don’t you think?

We have a lot of Irish Everton followers, how did that happen?

Nice, I haven’t been to the cinema since Covid began but I’ve missed the experience. Hopefully we’ll be retuning soon too. Belfast sounds like a great movie, one that I would be interested in watching. Glad to hear you had nice outing.
Oh "if you know your history". David Kennedy has written about the split with Houlding. He was a Conservative, anti-Irish Home Rule, Orange (you might need to read up on the Orange Order) greedy bigot. Our directors voted to leave him behind and moved to Goodison Park where there was an open welcome for all.

In the 40s we had about 7 key members of the squad from the Republic of Ireland. The RS had none. When southern Irish immigrants arrived in Scotland Road, there was only one team to support.

Everton played a friendly against Shamrock Rovers every year from about 1966 to 1973 or 4.

My hero, Peter Farrell and Tommy Eglinton were signed together from Rovers

It is not that Everton is the Irish Catholic team. It is about tolerance of all, which the red cult still seems to find difficult.

Nevertheless, there are lots of Irish who follow the dark side. I find it difficult to understand given their history.

Yes, it’s very good and I seemed to get something in my eye a few times when he was with his grandparents. I thought Ciaràn Hinds was the grandad you’d want for yourself or you’d want to be when the time comes.
Ya. Great acting by them all.
A really nice film but also showed how hard life was during the troubles as well.
