Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Ok. Getting up now. Nice cold Guinness and hopefully a decent sleep tonight.

Mind yourself Larbert mate. There's not enough like you about!
Had a couple of beers last night, but couldn't taste them, saved myself some money today and drank cordial.
I'm on leftover kebab and pakora for eats so I'm not fading away.
Glad to see you're improving mate and I hope you get a good sleep tonight.
Ps don't tell them I'm one of your multi's you rascal. ?

I have Nytol which usually works but leaves me groggy next day. Ah well, please God this will pass soon.

Great to have intelligent discussion rather than some of the nastiness aimed at our players.

I must visit Kilkenny next time I meet my mate in Weston.

Btw Woodsy, he is an East Belfast Glens supporter. We disagree on everything except Guinness. He has been a brilliant mate for 35 years now.
My daughter plays for the new East Belfast Gaelic team and my Granda (according to me da) played for Glentoran. I have absolutely no links with Belfast personally though. Go to IKEA occasionally ?

Absolutely. The legend that is centuries old is of two cats that fought each other so hard, eventually only their tails were left :)

Kilkenny's jersies are black and amber stripes - like a tiger.

As I have said, a lovely place to live, wonderful people....just don't mention hurling!!!
Always wondered about the cats. The Pogues had a song Wildcats of Kilkenny. (Heads off to find out more)

That is brilliant. My daughter played camogie for years. Unfortunately I was useless in helping her as I only played GAA football and soccer growing up.

I really hope she is enjoying the experience. I take it she is playing football?

Yeah, football. She had no experience and just went for it. She has the heart of a lion and more besides. She's injured at the minute and she won't let me come watch yet (think she wants to get a bit better but she denies this). I'll be one proud dad as none of my five kids got into sport in any competitive way.

I myself never played Gaelic games. Rugby, football (soccer) and even a bit of American Football. My school introduced an option to play "Continental Handball" that was a very obvious 'clone' of Gaelic Football. What you called something was very important back then ?

Hurling/Camogie is so skillful but looks so dangerous! I always say that if you give an Irishman/woman a stick, he/she going to hit someone with it ? She must have nerves of steel.

Mate, I am converted to it as the greatest field sport there is. I am useless as I said, but the speed and skills these players show is awesome. Btw, you don't lie down in a GAA match, football or hurling, unless you actually can't get up.

Your beloved daughter has probably learned that already!!

Delighted to see an East Belfast Club, and loving the trilingual inclusive motto.

They had a spot of bother at the start with threats (unsurprisingly in East Belfast) but they got 'reassurances' from people who knew people that they were grand. She loves it and was made so welcome.

I wasn't 'dissing' hurling btw. It is incredibly skilful. The speed and accuracy is astounding. I was only trying to be amusing. Agree that that 'going down' in Gaelic sports is a 'no no'. Refreshing really.

My mate’s niece coaches a GAA football team in Belfast , she’s also a referee and her daughter plays for the team, be a coincidence if was the same one.

No mate I know you weren't dissing hurling.

I just have never seen anything like watching a senior hurling match .... The power, skills and passion are simply incredible. It is impressive enough on TV but in the flesh it is magnificent.

All done by amateurs.I really wish your daughter and the Club every success. That is another good news story for me today ?
