Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

That is the River Court. Fine hotel. Lovely view of the castle from the terrace.

Not gonna lie, cant remember a castle. You have to be a bit intoxicated to miss one I guess! The reference date was we ferried back the next day, (again, I think), while England were playing Portugal in the quarters of the Euros, or WC. The one when Ronaldo got Rooney sent off.

SIL and BIL are moving back there soon; both have ROI passports etc now.

At least you didn't end up in the Nore!! Google Kilkenny Castle. Very hard to miss it from the River Court :)

Was dark by the time we ventured onto the terrace.

I think it was a year the Ireland had won the 6 nations, and the Grand National, sommet else as well.

SIL Dad referenced all 3 in his speech, followed by "and now you have my Daughter"!
The castle is usually floodlit, but maybe you weren't looking across the river!

Delighted you enjoyed your trip to my adopted home of 32 years.

It is a great place to live. Fabulous history, loads of well preserved medieval buildings, great pubs and restaurants.

Was memorable. I recall when Nik was poorly ill, I was told that numerous candles had been lit in hope across the "parish" in the chapels. No one asked them to, just happened. Lovely lovely people.

Good evening folks. I've been a reader today rather than a poster. Have loved all the talk of Ireland, Somerset and Gaelic sports. My Irish Granny was a huge fan of it. She hated football -UK version but did have a little picture of George Best stuck to her mirror. He's Irish she would say if anybody cared to ask why.

Weather has been grim here today. Definitely a staying in day. Hope you are feeling better @larbert toffee and also @Bluerover.

Roydo, they are fabulous people, wonderful neighbours and very loyal. Loads travelled 100 miles to my Dads funeral on a frosty morning back in O8. Sadly we were limited to ten when my Mam died this time last year, but we got loads of support.

They are always there for us but not interfering. The only neighbours that have bothered us in the 28 years we have lived where we now are are a pair of outsiders with attitudes.

Probably overstating the hurling thing. They are passionate even fanatical about Kilkenny hurling
I just know by now what I should not bring into a conversation ?. Especially as a Dub!

That is lovely Anjelka. Today's conversations have really lifted my spirits.
