Stunning pics @Barnfred 55 . I love old buildings. I am forever amazed that people built them with the most basic tools. Durham Cathedral is utterly beautiful. Parts of it are over 1000 years old. There are huge carved pillars inside it. I just look at this and think "Wow , somebody did all those carvings with little more than a chisel." My other favourite place - not quite as old but still beautiful is The Sacre Coeur in Paris

Have you ever read the book Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It's about the building of a medieval cathedral and all the politics involved. It's a brilliant book if you're interested in that sort of thing.

You'd need to get the ferry over to South Wales and it's probably a 5 hour drive from there.

There are still people living there ,I saw a man who feeds dogs left behind .No idea where his funding come from or how he lives .

A local couple run a charity dedicated to help the children of Chernobyl. There are babies still being born with birth defects.

If you have vinyl or solid floor, smear a little washing up liquid onto the floor where you are sliding it.

Mr G. who used to work for Hotpoint says most machines just cold fill so only one tap to connect and make sure it’s level otherwise it will leap out of the kitchen and don’t forget to remove the packing stabilisers!

I didn't make it clear in my post. Its a novel but based around historical facts. There's a follow up set about a 100 years later which is equally brilliant. Think it's called At Worlds End. Both excellent reads. Follett is a great story teller.
