Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Neither did I mate but the house is 23 years old, every stair creaked, the bannisters were dark wood and rickety, it just required replacing.
The new stairs are made to measure in solid oak with the bannisters having inlaid glass, from being embarrassing the stairs are now a feature, what a difference.
Just all the trim to finish.
Our house is 80 years old and the stairs creak but that could just be the sound of my knees.lol

Hello. Today's trip was very cultural. Been to the Guggenheim museum which is one of the most iimpressive pieces of architecture I have ever seen. Not quite as sure about the contents - mostly contemporary/ abstract art. Mr F was very taken with the giant pieces of metal entitled Passage of Time - all in various degrees of rustiness so we had a walk through them while he looked at the welds. You can take the boy out of the factory....To be honest if your 4 year old brought some of the paintings home you wouldn't hang them on ypur fridge! Bilbao is so nice. Lovely city.

Weathers the same here mate. And not forecast to change over the next few days.

I enjoyed The Responder but mainly because the acting was good and that it showcased quite a few scouse actors, including a few unknowns. I also thought the plot was a bit ropey and the ending had that many holes it was like a tea strainer. But it was still an enjoyable watch.
Busy day and apologies for the late reply mate.

The rain is still pelting down here but I’ve had my tea, going to put on the waterproofs and walk for an hour or so before bed. Need the air and a bit of music to wind down.

I enjoyed the series but I struggled to identify quite a few of the street scenes. Aerial shots were easy peasy but a lot of it seemed to be outside city centre heading towards Aigburth maybe??

Thought the young druggy couple were superb and Ian Hart as Carl the dealer equally impressive.

That sounds beautiful mate.

As it happens we recently repainted the bannisters/doors/frames/skirting downstairs from dark to a warm white. It’s like a new house. Amazing the difference a lick of paint brings.

Sounds great Anj, enjoy the rest of your stay.

Good afternoon friends. Having a slow morning at work for the first time in a while so I just wanted to stop by and check how everyone is doing.

Hopefully @anjelikaferrett had a good flight and now is enjoying the warm of the Mediterranean.

@jazzy are you alright? You have been more quite than usual in recent days. I have the feeling your heart is hurting as much as mine ?

Have a lovely afternoon everyone, we are the fortunate ones.
You are a very astute woman Sassy C.
There is very little in the World that brings me much joy at the moment and I don't like to post negative stuff so accordingly I'm posting less , sorry guys.

I bet like my own house yours is constant maintenance.

(Big sigh)
Indeed. Our house is need of a couple of big maintenance projects this year. But we are trying to decide whether is worth to spend the money, or sell the house as it is in the next year or so. We have lived here for 12 years, it is a small house but it has been the perfect home for us so far. But our daughter is approaching teenager years and we need an extra bathroom or she would drive us crazy once she becomes a teen ?

Nice, I enjoy architecture so I would also enjoy going to the Guggenheim museum and to Bilbao. Maybe one day ??

Continue enjoying your time, Ange. And don’t be shy about posting some pics for us. We all enjoy photos. And seeing new places :) xxx

Jazzy. First of all, you have nothing to apologise. We all have our days when we are more communicative than others and that’s okay ?

I know exactly what you mean about posting negative stuff. In recent days
I‘ve been trying not doing it so on this thread. I really enjoy our more lighthearted conversations and don’t want to get all dark here. But I’ve to admit that in recent days as the situation in Ukraine worsens my heart has gotten sadder, but I’m also been growing so angry. Thus posting on the Ukraine thread about how upsetting is the current situation, and exchanging information about what’s happening has been sort of therapeutic for me. We are living difficult times, but at least we are here for each other, whether is here on Karl’s thread or in another part of the forum. Love ya, Jazzy. Why can’t all humans love each other easily without so much war?

Morning all ,I hope all had a good nights sleep and wake refreshed for this beautiful morning ,it is -17 ° here so no going out in a tee shirt .Hard to see the reasoning but kids walk around and wait for buses with no socks on !
I hope all have a great day .
I finished the upholstery and had to wait for the curtain material so photos later for @jazzy

We lived in a wooden house built just after the second world war but moved to a 20 year old one with hopefully no problems yet .The only bill has been to have the aircon checked out and that cost 1000€ or just under .It is a big house for two and a big house means big bills ,we are hoping that as it is so new they won't be coming yet .Oh and all on one level so my old knees get a rest .
