Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I have read this fellas thread recently and it’s surreal in the context of our thread on here.

Keane is marmite. Even in player days he was divisive as he demanded 100%. Accepted nothing less than war on the pitch.

Maybe not as widely known but he was a loner in the Ireland camps. Took his brothers with him to games and they had the guitar and family craic in their own hotel room.

Had we got him coming over from Cork he would have his own statue.

Hi @Sassy Colombian I did post it but you need winter chanterelles or it is not the same .If you know any pickers they might have them dried ,these are the ones you need to find :-
Good luck ,if you get them I will repost the recipe.
It was the first dish I had when I arrived in Finland and I never tire of it .
Thanks darling. Hmmmm I’m going have to do some research because I’ve never heard of winter chanterelles, but there is whole community of mushrooms lovers in our city so I’m going to reach out to them. How expensive are chanterelles in Finland? In our area they can be expensive, but they are so delicious so worth their price.

Hey friends, I meant to tell you that today we received the genetic makeup results for my daughter. I had been given a DNA test as a gift and instead of using it on me, I thought it would be cool if through my daughter we were to get information not just about my ancestry but my husband's too, and we sure did. The results were quite surprising. I really didn’t know much about my dad’s ancestors. On my mom’s side I knew we had some Spanish roots, and also some Colombian indigenous roots. On my husband’s side he knew he had English and German. Below are the results for my daughter's ancestry makeup. I was at awe what a large percentage of European she is and even more that her largest genetic makeup is English. These results have made me curious about whether I have some English genes, so now my husband and I want to do a test for each of us to learn more about our genetics and our ancestry. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool that my daughter is also had Irish. Scandinavian, Peruvian, Mexican and even Puerto Rican. But I was very surprised that her genetic makeup was 7.7 % kihn Vietnamese and 1.7 % Bangali.

I noticed this morning that our kitchen is very much in need of a deep clean. Like you dont notice your kids growing, I didnt realise how much grime and crap were on the range and the wooden cupboards.

So spent the day getting them all sparkling today. Just water and Fairy, and a few sponges, and the whole room looks absolutely brand new now! Simple things sometimes.
Good job Gordon Ramsey never saw it first .

We pick them , you can buy them and the price depends on the availability from 7€to 10€ fresh per litre !!! but dried are expensive even here . They have a very earthy taste unlike any other and definitely not the same as the yellow chanterelles. They are as the name says late in the year although we usually start as the temperature drops back down to +5 so about September here .

Good morning all today especially our Colombian friend who might not be Colombian after all @Sassy Colombian .So interesting to see those results and I am sure you are still reeling from the results .

Read this before you spend too much money ,although it is meant for sibling discovery I wanted you to see the reason why your daughter might have had so varied and surprising results . https://www.nationalgeographic.com/...t-siblings-different-results-genetics-science

Good morning all. So much to catch up.on. I am very much in awe of the creativity shown by @fandjango and @blue1948 . I'm rubbish at any kind of arty/crafty stuff so I'm always impressed by people who have that talent. @Gwladysover Pleased to hhear Jessica is feeling better and @Ducans elbow I'm also glad to hear that your wife isn't as bad as first thought. @roydo good going on the kitchen. We hhad lovely day yesterday, bought an all day tticket on the bus and got off at different places of interest. My favourite was going up a mountain using the funicular railway. We also came across a bar where we spent a whopping €7.5 on two beers and two cakes. The prices here are so reasonable. The most we've spent on a meal is €62 which was 3 courses each and sangria. Last day today. Taking a boat trip along the river. @Terrarian IIhope you and Daisy beagle are OK.

That's weird. How accurate are these things and are they able to attribute the breakdown to either parent or only when you also take a test?

A touch more than me then ! It was enlightening to see that two siblings have different DNA ,just because the parents donations vary ,don't go there !! I think that is what I deduced from the NG article . I also read into it that because of that the percentages will be exagerated or deminished . It has made me wonder are there dominant genes for place of origin as there certainly are for others as in colour (in birds ) or size etc. Of to thave a word with Mr Google

I and three of my first cousins have done a test and I match more with two of them than the third. Through tracing various DNA matches on family history sites it appears that the three of us with the best match with each other have inherited more DNA from my Grandad and the other from my Nan. Mr G did one and had a match with a first cousin of whom he knew nothing, enquiries with the last remaining aunt revealed that the baby had been given up for adoption and although the aunt was only a child at the time could vividly remember the day a man and woman came to take the baby away. The mother of the baby had passed but she had always kept track of her child, amazingly he had been adopted by a couple who lived only 15 miles away, and amongst her things was a box of news paper clippings she had kept whenever his name appeared in the paper. In a further twist the cousin lived only about half a mile from us and his children attended the same school as ours albeit in different years. I’ve taken up enough of your time, Hope you all have a good day.
