Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Cash is on the way out. Im not easy with that. I got the train from Newry to Belfast today for brief work meeting then lunch. ‘Working lunch’ as they can’t really talk shop in an open environment but I get it, sussing me out and all that. Very pleasant actually but, you were waiting for the but!

At Newry I was encouraged to use the ticket vending machine despite the lad at the desk who could sell me a ticket.

At Grand Central station in Belfast, the staff were showing people how to scan their ticket on exit rather than a person actually greet you and take your ticket in their hand.

In the restaurant, while buying the first drink on arrival, the barman brought me the machine and appeared surprised I had cash. ‘Oh you are paying cash’ he said in a raised pitch, the hint of surprise in his tone.

The day I get this at home in my local then I will admit I have had my day 😀

Morning all on this dark gloomy morning. Update on son’s MIL They found something which needs removing and the operation is on Tuesday, she is booked for a pre-op this morning so we are dog -sitting today for the four-legged fiend that is Minnie, the daxie. How something so small has so much energy is beyond me, even after a very long walk which you would think with such short legs would tire her out she goes straight for her toys for a game of fetch. A refusal to play is greeted with a sort of pleading whine which only stops when you finally capitulate. Oh well, it’s a great excuse to avoid the housework 😄
Have a good day, all.💙

Morning guys, I had a busy day yesterday and another is on the cards today. Stood in for one of the domino players last night and after two hours of very close games came away having won £1. I might treat myself to a packet of crisps…. 😆
Sadly I’m old enough to remember the days when a pound note would have got you 80 bags of crisps!

Virtually everyone in my local pays by card . We even do that at the cricket club.

Morning all , that lazy ol sun is coming up later each day , ain’t got nothing to do but roll around heaven all day. Me, I’ve got an easy 6 mile run to do , probabaly my last one in shorts this year , amazing really this far into November. But it’s dropping 8 deg for Sundays run so it’s back into leggings on my old legs.
Have a great day all.

Evening everyone, well I’ve just watched the first 3 episodes of series 1 Wolf Hall and quite enjoyed it - found it a bit slow but that wasn’t a bad thing as I could do my knitting at the same time - don’t know how I keep up with this rock and roll lifestyle
Mark Rylance is excellent in it.

Little known fact, they shot a lot of the exterior work of Wolf Hall at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. An old haunting ground of ours. The whole village is owned by the National Trust and is one of the loveliest places in the UK. They use the village as the setting for many period dramas. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.
