Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, in solidarity with @blue1948 we also have a wet morning. Schools went back yesterday so early starts again as we are back on the school run. This is the last term as Harry will be leaving school in July and going on to college, subject to results of course. He’s never really been settled at the school, those with long memories may recall his issues with bullying etc, so sixth form is not for him. Hopefully he will be happier in a college environment.
Hope you had a better night with Grannie @jazzy. @anjelikaferrett another exciting day ahead, hope everything goes well for Charlotte and the baby.
Have a good day, all.💙
I hope Harry settles in college - if it’s any consolation my son went from struggling at secondary school for various reasons to getting an award for only dropping 3 marks over his 2 year course at college. Some environments are more supportive and suit kids better.

Morning on a glorious day here - not sure how warm it is but the sky is blue and the birds are singing. Thanks to @anjelikaferrett recommendation I can now use the app to identify them. We have a sparrow nesting in a hole in the wall- I know we should fill it in but it is used every year by sparrows so I haven’t the heart, and we also have a pair of great tits nesting in a bird box which has been there for a few years but never used until now. Next door has a starlings nest behind their drain pipe so it’s quite a little activity centre at the moment and I know they’re all common birds but they are very entertaining to watch.
I hope all goes well for Charlotte today @anjelikaferrett - looking forward to an update 💙

I love my bird identification app. As I always take my phone on my runs I am often compelled to stop by bird song and to find out which make they are, which is always a nice surprise to find the variety we have in our countryside.

I do that too. I did it on holiday in Zante last year and got an interesting selection - a common kingfisher, red rumped swallow and a western yellow wagtail. One of the hospitals I go to for work is quite rural and there is usually a wider variety there too. I find it fascinating.

Well I expected a quiet evening last night during my respite visit to the pub. When I got there the whole pub sang happy birthday, lots of food was brought out from the kitchen together with cakes. Cards galore had been signed by staff and customers and some friends who normally only get out at the weekend were there, it was lovely. I hadn’t told anyone in the pubs it was my birthday as I was a bit down tbh because Kay couldn’t be there, but later at home I got video calls from my kids in the USA, Saudi Arabia and my DiL in the Philippines. The time differences were incredible but somehow it all worked out well….

Sounds like a great night ;)
PS Perhaps they're all registered on GOT

That’s lovely- you do so much for others and it’s obviously much appreciated. I’m glad you had a good time

What a lovely birthday surprise- can’t think of anyone more deserving.

@Barnfred 55 have you followed the Sharon Osborne row over Kneecap’s Coachella performance? I see Badenoch has weighed in too now (again). I fear for future artists if you can only write music that the establishment approves of first. George Orwell was right.
Only what I've seen on TikTok mate, which is quite a bit actually. I think some things should be allowed, and indeed expected at festivals, and certainly condemning Israel and supporting the people of Palestine fall within that sphere. Even the "Maggie's in a box" chanting from last weeks show is probably OK even if it did push the boundaries of what may be considered common decency. But the video I saw of them brandishing on stage the Hamas flag whilst leading chants of Up Hamas, up Hezbolah, crossed a line for me mate. Especially given the events that took place at a similar music festival just 18 months ago.

As regards writing music, I'm not aware that this is an actual issue here unless things have been said I don't know about. But for me any song lyrics that incite hate or actual violence against a group or race shouldn't be allowed. Not sure if that counts as Orwellian. I guess it's a grey area.

Presumably Sharon Osborne is Jewish. I didn't know that. I know that if I was Jewish I'd be pretty much ashamed of what Israel is doing in Palestine. Plus she has a short memory. A number of years ago the RSPCA were less than happy about what her own husband was getting up to on stage. :)

Didn’t know of the Hamas thing myself but happy to take your word of it. That’s just wrong.

My comment re writing of music was that Badenoch blocked Kneecap getting prize money for something or other as they weren’t supporters of the UK. It was such a publicity coup for them to then win a court case over the same.

Could be the Tik Tok video was fake mate but it seemed genuine enough. And I've not checked the Hamas flag claim. I took that from the comment section. It was bright yellow with black signage but they were waving it about like they were on the Kop.

I'll have a look at that Badenoch thing as I'm interested what that was. She won't be around much longer I think. She's a walking disaster from what I've seen.

Good morning all on this fine morning clear skies and above zero ! I hope all are well and had a good night's kip and that @peteblue has recovered from all the cake .

I’ve never heard of him either - in fact most music after about 1990 has passed me by. Good to hear the news on the blood results.

Good morning everybody, it has been a hectic few days. The best news being that Frankie arrived yesterday. He is just adorable. Not quite as chunky as expected - 9lbs 4oz. Charlotte is fine and msy even be home today. We also managed to get moved after about three days of non stop fetching, carrying, cleaning and flat back building. I've never worked so hard! Chris and Sophie came last night for a few days. They are going back on Sunday as Chris has his next lot of treatment on Monday.
Have a lovely day everyone x
