True had isn't rapid but reads the game far better than Keane (but then who doesn't) and more importantly doesn't get bullied.

He’s too nice. He should be beasting forwards in the air and if a quicker player tries to get past him he should be bringing them down rather than watch them run through and score.

Dave Watson (one of my favourite ever Everton defenders) was much smaller than Keane and didn’t have much pace but he was a fantastic defender. Keane is an embarrassment considering the tools he has.

So true and there never was a reason to move Duffy on... except the idea that every defender should be John Stones on the ball.

Not disagreeing, I think Duffy is a much better defender than Keane. But that says it all really. He’s been found wanting big time. It’s clear to me that he is a confidence player, who can’t play under pressure. So he’s okay in a well drilled and organised Burnley team who’ve got low levels of expectation. Play him at Everton and he can’t cope with pressure. He’s been a poor, poor signing. I bet Silva is wishing Koeman had signed Maguire (for less money) instead of Keane.

Sell if we can. His performances pre season have convinced me he's never going to improve, under us that is.
His rise to prominence a couple of years ago highlighted by the northern red tops and swallowed hook line and sinker by Walsh in a lazy manner. Like others on here thought we had secured two members of England's defence for years to come. So we only have one and should count ourselves fortunate.
Of course we arrogantly turned our noses up at pursuing an alternative to Keane for half his fee, but let's not go down that road again.

Are we sure that Cuco Martina is a worse centre back option than Keane in Silva's system, at this point in time ..?

I actually forgot about him, thanks for the reminder!!
To answer your question if one player could actually be worse than Keane at the minute then Cuco is ye man.. so yes he’s worse

Tin hat on but I haven't given up on this lad. He showed flashes of what he's capable of early last season but the team was in crisis from almost the first game and he clearly lost his confidence. In a settled team/partnership he could still be a good asset. He looks anything but at the minute but playing next to Jags/Williams would give anyone the jitters. He's still young for his position and new manager/players could see the player he looked at Burnley.

I always put Snail’s poor performances down to homesickness. Now however, I just think he’s a yard dog. Snail, the yard dog.
