2019/20 Michael Keane

....I rarely go overboard on criticising an individual, but Keane is another Walsh purchase that I shake my head at. Last night he showed no aggression or competitiveness. There was a reason the Villa CF attached himself to Keane last night.

I was happy to admit he did fine last season but he really is very ordinary and we shouldn’t build a team to cover his obvious weakness.
Keane is a decent cb has his limitations but improved last season. Definetly needs pace alongside not sure Mina is that man they are a bit too similar. Hence why it was shocking we didn't add there. We have zero depth there.

...I’m being kind when I say Keane is very ordinary. He’s certainly ‘got his weaknesses’; weak minded, no aggression or competitiveness, flat footed, immobile and no powers of recovery. Apologies, I’ve never been a fan. Mina is far, far superior and he’s up for the battle.

It’s about getting a partner for Mina.

How do you improve pace and mobility?

He will be ragged senseless by the pace in the top 6 teams.
I know that, my post was being sarcastic, Michael has the aggression of a seven year old altar boy, he’s as gentle as a lamb and as slow as a snail or tortoise, even slower when he turns. He wasn’t too bad last night in the second half for the simple reason Villa decided, mostly, to defend their one goal lead. We are stuck with Keane for The foreseeable future, unfortunately.

Just making an observation about sky, but now I know you didn’t watch it, boy do I feel foolish.
No you were trying to be smart saying that I got my opinions from the tv but you’re not smart so it backfired. You don’t feel foolish, but you are.

He's improved since his first season undoubtedly but I can't be arsed watching another full season of him. I hope to god we sign another centre back next summer.

He reads the game ok. Good God otherwise he would be the worst centre half in living memory at this level.

He is surely the slowest/immobile CH in the prem at the moment?

Watch his highlight reels from Burnley and Everton, they are all last ditch tackles - usually from behind an opponent.
It is a clear indication he lacks the pace/mobility required for the top half of the prem,

Wow, that did backfire, I’ve been called an idiot, not smart, and foolish by a stranger on the internet. However, I still do not agree with Jamie Carragher’s opinion that Wesley bullied Keane, and think that he was simply regurgitating the same thing over and over to reinforce the pre match preamble that the local media had been overly harsh on Wesley after 2 games. It was a good contest, and Keane did fine apart from a mistake which unfortunately led to a goal.

This is his level.

Championship/High up Div I.

He lacks the pace and aggression to excel any higher - in fact he would just be solid at this level with his supporters laughing at the thought he could play at the top level.

He's crap and that's the end of it mate. 2 games on the spin a striker tries to pin themselves against him. My ma would turn him inside out the clumsy whopper.
I get people love the fight against adversity story, but he is honestly a liability. Anyone with physical attackers and the bloke just wilts. That Wesley bloke literally had him on the end of a lead.
