2019/20 Michael Keane

Keane gets crapped on IMO for two reasons:

First, in his first season here, he was terrible, but a) his foot was gashed open by a tackle and got infected, so that he had to wear a boot two sizes larger and was in danger of losing the foot; b) he was playing in a backline that gave significant minutes to Holgate, Williams, Martina, etc. So yes, he wasn't good, but there's a lot of mitigation there.

Second, he's a big pasty goon and doesn't look threatening. If you put the head of some hard man on his body people would think more of him. But nobody thinks Baby Huey is an intimidating defender.
Babyhuey.webp

I know, but Keane was the king pin, people dont want to accept it because Keane's form under Big Sam made an impression on them, and they cant work past it.
Look at last season, 2 games against Chelsea, Zouma couldn't play, both clean sheets.
I can work past a players previous poor form, they will always start with a clean slate, I’m an Everton fan, I want every player to play well, just don’t see it with Michael, my heart is never out of my mouth when the opposition are attacking and Michael is playing. Carlin, I honestly don’t see the player you do in Michael, I do realise it is all about opinions and you could be right in your assessment of Michael Keane.

He didn’t ‘nearly lose his foot’ in any real sense though did he? You don’t play again a week later or whatever if you actually nearly lose your foot. He nearly lost his foot in the sense that if the injury had been a bit worse, and in a slightly different place, they might possibly have considered the chance that they maybe would want to amputate. A bit like when your mum says your brother ‘nearly drowned’ because you pushed him in the swimming pool and he was under water for 0.5 seconds.

what a weird excuse that is, nearly lost his foot but was playing a week or 2 later hahahahha

Not sure about that, if aything it was Maguire that looked lost for England.

Thing is with the top 6 thing, its not just about him, its about the side as a unit, if Keane isnt good enough to help us brake top 6 then Mina isnt and Zouma definitely isnt.
True Maguire's position sense is poor too. Maybe tonights game will clarify things. Have to disagree on Mina and to a lesser extent Zouma, but then it's all about opinion.Mina hasn't played enough games yet to form a lasting impression but has looked good when he has and Zouma suits the higher press far more than Keane.

IIRC Holgate and Keane never played together at CB that season; in fact I think they've only played together once or twice at the back.

Why did you push your brother in the swimming pool?

you don’t think that affected his performance over an extended time I don’t know what to tell you. Keane 1 Internet Guy 0 from the looks of it
Yeah, it's not like it would be in his interests to make it sound worse and more dramatic than it was is it? None of us have ever done that about an injury or anything i'm sure.

Anyway, i'm 1-0 down to Michael Keane, quick, somebody play an aimless punt over the top so I can equalise while he tries to turn round.

Serious infections in your leg/foot take 2-3 months to heal and then there is a rehab period.

There is no chance at all he would be able to walk let alone put weight on his foot with a serious infection.

I do believe he was suffering but feel it was blown way out of proportion.
