My views on Keane have flipped many times since he’s joined but since the restart he was our best player and was actually brilliant.

I never would’ve thought he would be one of my favourite players in the squad but I think it’s partly due to dislike for most of them lol.

I do wonder whether the new contract has the amortisation effect that some are mentioning - is this definitely true? If so it’s an absolute no brainer.

Carlo loves him.

A mental midget of a footballer. Would like him to prove me wrong, but having confidence players at centre half isn't the best of options.

When he's good, he's alright. When he's bad, I've seen tugboats turn faster.

He’s been very solid since Carlo came in. Before that he was a disaster most of the time lol

He’ll never be able to play in a high line and is a limited player, but if you play to his strengths like we have more recently he’s definitely worth having around.

I mentioned in the transfer thread about 3-4-3 as an option with Holgate at RCB and Keane in middle just need a left footer for the other side. Its just a shame Gibson isn't quite ready and Branthwaite needs more time. Maybe get an older player in on a 1 or 2 year contract and a right wing back and we nearly have a team.

It’s horses for courses. In games where we want to dominate and play higher up would I play Keane? Absolutely not, he hasn’t got the pace to do it and ends up looking championship standard. In games where we sit deeper and try to hit teams on the break would I play Keane? Absolutely, the man is brilliant at defending his own box. There are plenty of games where we’ll need to do the latter in the next few years. Good decision to give him a new deal.

We signed him in 2017 for 24.85 on a five year contract, thats amoratised at 4.85 mill a year, next summer he will be 4 years in so his book price will be 4.85 mill mate.

It makes you wonder if that what Carlo wanted, hence our interest in left footed Gabriel.

I think its an area we will look at next year mate, it was a priority position for us, but Holgate and Branrthwaite have been two unexpected gifts for us.

Gibson, looks of to either Huddersfield or Bundesliga this summer and after a successful stint at Fleetwood may be closer to things next season.

Its not often reported but Yerry is one of our highest earners, he was on twice what Keane was on, Yerry needs a really big season for me, before questions are asked.

I just cant take to him mate - seen him caught out of position far too many times whereas whilst Keane is slow his positional play does seem better.

An unpopular opinion but I would be happy with either Stones or Zouma on loan with an option to buy next summer with Mina out the door next summer to compensate for a permanent deal if either impress.

Im holding judgement on a lot of our players mate personally.

We like to blame players for not being good enough, but thats just an easy win and a vent. What no one likes to acknowledge is the club has been terrible for a lot of our players, huge turnover of management, gaping holes in the squad, no consistency, continuity, sustainability etc, huge swaths of players coming and going, a really unsettling environment. I dont think we gave the players a platform to perform or support them enough as a club for that matter or provided a balanced squad without gaping holes to perform to their best.

I think a lot of players deserve this year under 1 manager in a stable environment before a judgement can be cast.

I hope that is about to happen.
