Keane is never an international centreback. I’m glad he’s doing a lot better for us and he is a very solid player but if he’d been born in the era of Adams Terry Ferdinand Campbell King Woodgate he wouldn’t have even sniffed an England cap. He wouldn’t have even got one in the period immediately afterwards when Jags and Lescott were picking up caps. It’s only because he is one of about three half decent English centrebacks currently that he’s getting a game. Top opposition will trouble him as they have done in the prem.

People are laying into Keane way more than Maguire yet they were both at fault for equally as bad errors. And Maguire didn't get a redemption assist.
Maguire and Kean are around the same level if you ask me. Maguire is just slightly better than Kean on the ball but he gets turned all the time, he may drop the odd error but at least Kean has a bit of nouse and defensive discipline in comparison.

I agree they were both garbage not just keane, but this is the Keane thread on an Everton forum so I couldnt give a shiny shizer about Maguire

I think Keane done alrite under Silva, but he's just a back up for me.

Let’s hope his performance is so highlighted that it keeps him out of the next squad as we’re not blessed with centre halves at the moment.

Id like to see us sign a CB in Jan, gradually bed them in and then sell Keane next summer.

I doubt we will buy a CB in Jan.

Brands doesnt like doing business in Jan, buying a CB is hard enough these days, we will probably loan a CB.

As for Keane, he clearly has his doubters, but for me hes a very decent CB, hes HG, something we really need to start keeping an eye on, I get the "not good enough for a team looking to challenge the top 6", but the top 6, for me, dont have utterly amazing CBs, bar the Dutch fella over the park.

Of course if we want to improve we have to be constantly improving the squad, so I get peoples desire to sell everybody and get better in, but theres gotta be reason behind it. Ive said it before and I will say it again, the quality in CBs is as bad as ive known it, theres a few that stand out, but they are few and far between.

Theres a constant desire to write off all our players, just a few weeks ago we were praising our defensive play, now here we are calling Keane a donkey again.
