Not only the decision but VAR in general, the time it takes for a decision to be made it can take minutes, momentum is lost...

As for Keane, some grimacing and gurning from him would benefit his detractors...
The average time a VAR review takes is 1:22. This doesn't include all the silent reviews for every goal. The amount of time it takes being a problem is really not an issue.

Keane is still awful.

Keane trod on his foot, okay the fall was dramatic but no question for me was a penalty. If that had happened to Richarlison in their area would you shout PEN.

Showed Keane up for poor positioning and lack of speed.
Oddly, Richarlison was mauled in their area and...nothing. It's the horrible inconsistency of how VAR is being used that drives me insane.

Average 1.22, that's eternal on the football pitch, enough time to have a word with a player not on the song sheet, tactical change, substitution like yesterday etc..

No he is not awful.

He is too!

OK, anyway, I think you're envisioning a scenario where this 'eternal' delay is happening 8 times per game; it isn't (or damned well shouldn't). Most VAR reviews are seriously fast. Offside takes :10, is it/is it not a red booking takes :30. It's really only the goal review that comes after a questionable call/non-call, and to a lesser extent reviewing penalty area handballs. It would hardly interrupt the flow of play, but even if it did, I read a very interesting statistic the other day. In a 90-minute game, the ball is "in play" for just over 60 minutes. That's an awful lot of flow interruption already. You'd never notice it.

The answer to a lot of VARs problems lies in that stat. If is there for clear and obvious errors, then put a 30 second time limit in place. If you can't see it in that time, it's not clear and obvious.

I could agree that perhaps a time limit would help, but :30 isn't going to cut it, unless you want to 100% guarantee the sideline monitor is never used. It's a key component in making the system work because it allows (competent) referees to reverse/award their own mistakes. It happens every single game in every other league, so why can't it in the EPL.

Probably because it's the most incompetent, corrupt group of officials in the sport.

Have the referee’s been warned off using the sideline monitor by their superiors, seems strange not to use something which would help them to make a quick decision.

yeah someone else here said [can't remember his name] has actually instructed them to not. the EPL is so worried about delaying a game by 90 seconds to appease 80% of their fanbases who are all over the age of 75 and ignorant af

No. It took me a couple of times watching the replay to even see what the foul was meant to be for
