I would keep Keane me, ok he fell off a cliff like the rest of the team at the end of the season but i think he's decent.

....I’ve probably been his biggest critic but I have no major objection to this view. For me, Keane is never an England international. I don’t think he’s 1st choice at Everton but I have no real issue if he’s still here next season as our key problems are elsewhere.

Honestly terrible. He’d be first out the door for me. He’s of similar level to Antolin Alcaraz.

Absolute disgrace of a player, what were the club thinking giving him another deal, just release him off.

Proper shades of Matty Pennington.

So Eggs who should we look to for our first choice CB pairing?

As usual @Eggs, I can't disagree with your comments in their entirety, other than my feeling that if he is not first choice CB, his confidence is completely shot.
So, for me, he is either starts on a regular basis, or, he needs a club where he will be as I don't believe there is any room for a middle ground.

....it depends on who’s here next season, but if it’s as it is now I would go Godfrey/Mina, with Keane as next in the queue.

I always ask myself, ‘who would I least like playing against’. I’d hate playing against Godfrey & I’d actually look forward to playing against Keane. Mina is similarly immobile, but he’s competitive and has attitude. You try and run past Mina & he’ll put his arm & his body in the way.

Branthwaite still needs to prove his ability at this level but he’s highly promising & it wouldn’t take much to instantly leapfrog Holgate. I really like Reece Welsh, he looks a class act and might be more familiar to folk by the end of next season.

The more I think about it, the more I wish I could get into international football enough to support a team.

Imagine how great it must be to have the power to get rid of unwanted players this easily.

Players are not picked in isolation.
The manager picks a team with one eye on the combinations between players in certain of the pitch.

At the start of the season when Allan and Doucoure were in front of Keane and were doing well then Keane did well.

The manager will have a plan for how he wants the team to play next season and that plan will suit some more than others.

However, I think CA like the kind of simple no nonsense defender that Keane is.

Embarrassing, so Godfrey gets a call up but some of our fans take on it is to almost be happy and celebrate another player hasnt? Really?
It's a reflection on how poor our fan base is, when some say we our better without fans this is a good example as to why, we dont have a supportive fan base.
Of course Ben should get a call up, but one thing that really helps him is being able to play more then one position, Keane can't to that.
To not focus on Ben this afternoon is a bit sad.

You mean the kind of "no nonsense" defending that Keane tried against City when he attempted to dribble out of a press ?
Resulted in a City goal if I recall , yeah I'm sure Carlo was impressed.

What's embarrassing exactly? It was never going to be Keane AND godfrey who got the nod, who would you rather get the nod? A young lad who's made the step up and shown over various positions he's got what it takes or the big slow gammon head who'd be scared of the euro crowd anyway.

It’s always the same, our most loyal players get treated awful while the mercenaries and lazy players get lauded like heroes.
