Yer, quite embrassing that your trying to defend this utter clown of a defender. He's exactly the type of player ( not on his own ) why we will never improve as a club until we rid ourselves of them.

Over priced, over paid, coward of a man.
How am I defending him? I'm correctly pointing out we should be happy for Ben, focus should be on him

....it depends on who’s here next season, but if it’s as it is now I would go Godfrey/Mina, with Keane as next in the queue.

I always ask myself, ‘who would I least like playing against’. I’d hate playing against Godfrey & I’d actually look forward to playing against Keane. Mina is similarly immobile, but he’s competitive and has attitude. You try and run past Mina & he’ll put his arm & his body in the way.

Branthwaite still needs to prove his ability at this level but he’s highly promising & it wouldn’t take much to instantly leapfrog Holgate. I really like Reece Welsh, he looks a class act and might be more familiar to folk by the end of next season.

Who is Reece Walsh?

Embarrassing, so Godfrey gets a call up but some of our fans take on it is to almost be happy and celebrate another player hasnt? Really?
It's a reflection on how poor our fan base is, when some say we our better without fans this is a good example as to why, we dont have a supportive fan base.
Of course Ben should get a call up, but one thing that really helps him is being able to play more then one position, Keane can't to that.
To not focus on Ben this afternoon is a bit sad.

Exactly. Even though Keane has been bad, he had a purple patch of form, same as everyone else, and under Koeman too. He's inconsistent and doesnt have the mentality to perform when he has to, but he was good enough for England - at least I still think he's better than Tyrone Mings and cough cough Harry Maguire too. I was rooting for 4 players in the squad.

Finally. Out of England. Next up should be Pickford and we should get rid of these awful players asap.

As much as i dislike Keane as a footballer and dont think he should be in the England team, and has been extremely fortunate to be there...

...im disappointed for two reasons:

A: The sale premium for him has gone

B: He will no doubt now have lost total confidence

I dont think fans are mostly 'celebrating' Keane not getting a call up. Its more about having to read in here the complete hyperbole about how wonderful he is...for so long.

For a limited and fragile footballer its amazing how much unwarranted praise hes gotten in this thread.

If hes still there next season we'll struggle to finish top 6.

He only has himself too blame if you ask me. I don't mind Keane per se but he is fragile mentally and whilst I am an advocate of mental health, his is confidence issues that effect him far too easily.

I have seen much worse defenders though to be honest, his passing and heading are very good but pace can let him down on the turn. If he wants back in the England squad he needs to cut some of the awful mistakes out and he needs to start being a leader on the pitch.

Agree on Keane completely. Since Pickford has come back from injury though his form has been good and he’s England’s best keeper at the moment. If he starts throwing it in the net every game again then yes we need a different keeper. I can’t see us looking for one this summer though.

....I always think the FA Youth Cup is a great indicator of talent coming through (won it the Osman, Hibbert, Jeffers etc; runners up the Rooney year). We’ve done nothing for a long time, but this season knocked out Man City & Chelsea.

Those victories were based on sound and backs to the wall defensive performances & Welsh was the young CB at the heart of it. Already a regular for the U23s, I think he might be one to look out for.

What's embarrassing is your personal abuse of the player "coward" "gammon head" rather than your view of his ability.
