2024/25 Michael Keane

I’m putting this out there.

He’s not that bad. He’s been made our scapegoat.
While I agree with the general sentiment, I actually think that does him a bit of a disservice.

He has on occasion been an albatross - and he will know all-too well how nervous he’s made the fans in the past. He’ll know that his name on a team sheet makes hearts sink.

But I think the real credit has to come from him sticking at it, and latterly showing that he’s got it in him.

We as fans have hardly shown him encouragement, but he’s kept going anyway.

I think it shows really good mental resilience - something he’s expressed previously that he’s struggled with.

I admire the guy, for all he’s made me bite my knuckle in frustration on many occasions.

I really hope he can keep steady for the rest of the season from here.

he's done this before, had a series of good games, but as soon as that next mistake comes along (which it will), he'll go back to being a jellyfish

Play him up front, I wouldn't be averse to seeing his name on the team sheet then, Peter crouch never looked like a footballer but he was very effective, Keggers could be the same

Might not be the worst decision to offer him a new deal on much reduced terms. If he goes he will need to be replaced and as the squad is in for a big overhaul in the summer it would be one less position to focus on

….he won’t accept ‘much reduced terms’, he’s getting himself in a good bargaining position. I’d imagine the very least he’ll want is 2 years on the same monies.

It whenever his future at the club looks in doubt we get a few good games from him. We simply cannot renew his contract again.

If Dyche has anything to do with it then he’ll be getting a bumper pay rise like Doucoure.

You could say the same about Pickford. Makes mad mistakes, saves us when he's on good form.
