I think Lescott scoring about 50 goals in 2 seasons was largely a reason why they were classed as being so good. Sure they were a solid partnership, but Jagielka has always been a liability with the ball at his feet and isn't particularly dominating in the air for a centre back. I agree they were a good partnership, can't comment on their record as I don't know (but will take your word for it), but he was never top class for me.

Well at least because Burnley are playing tonight we can write it off if he's in the squad at 6.45pm and don't need to wonder till the deadline.

The season they shut Torres out in the cup they were as solid a pair of defenders I've witnessed at Everton.

Nah not too young believe me. He was good for us, but the likes of Terry, Vidic et al were top class... not Phil Jagielka.

Yes, such a shame he picked up that knee injury. He was utterly superb.

Something else to consider is what if Keane has an injury like what Jags suffered between now and the summer.

That would leave Burnley with a player who is no longer as desirable and teams would look elsewhere.

Football careers are short and with all due respect Burnley are tiny in comparison to Everton.
Burnley are also as good as safe this season too.

I am still hopeful this deal can be done today, if Koeman wants it.

Jagielka was absolutely top class for years. Even after his injury.

Jags has been a great servant and a good player for the level we have been (best of the rest).. But if we want to push forward now then we need better than Jags. So if Keane was to never surpass the ability of Jags, I would want to swerve so no I am not taking the mick, nor am I disrespecting Jags.

Its funny what SSN does to us, if he had played for Utd or Chelsea he would have been "top class", according to some Jamie Redknapp car board cut out. In some ways we are now brainwashed to believe if he played for Everton he cant be top class.

The lad was very loyal to us, he turned down Arsenal to stay with us when many at the club agitated for a move i.e Lescott.

Wasnt he in the last England squad and i think he played too, lets not make super glue out of him yet.

Everton are bang out of order if he doesnt get his testimonial in the summer as well, a fitting end.
