It’s difficult to single out any centre halves that have done themselves justice, all have their faults, all have had awful performances,
Centre half’s are only as good as their partnerships and the constant changes made by all the managers, has been just as detrimental as the players poor performances.
I’d stick with him,as there are others that should be bombed out before him.

Said it when we signed him he's cumbersome slow uncomfortable with the ball absolutley awful in the air for a big lad aswell I hope we can get decent money for him
His weakness is his non movement, and the lack of a brain to cover it up. His averageness was not exposed at Burnley as he played in a deep sitting ultra defensive set up.

He reminds me of Sahko when he went to Crystal Palace, looks competent in a team that defends in numbers deep in their own box as he just has to win headers, make blocks etc (at Burnley Keane was ranked #1 in the league for clearances), but in a team that isn't as defensive it means much more is required, more space is afforded to the opposition, and Keane is a sitting duck when in space. He cannot move. Steve Bruce wasn't the most mobile (not often was this exposed, an exception being Romario who tore him to shreds in two games vs Barca), but he was intelligent and knew how to position himself to cover up this weakness. Paul McGrath as he got older could barely move, didn't train during the week, but as the most intelligent defender I've seen outside of Baresi his positioning and timing of a tackle was perfect.

Still not writing him off. That Benteke chance that he should of buried did come from Keane wrongfully stepping out but other than that he had a decent game.

Just bizarre for me that Holgate and Wipliams has struck up a decent partnership keeping clean sheets then for some reason Allardyce started selecting Keane plus one other and we haven’t had a clean sheet since.

Tbf they both got ill before the Chelsea game so the change was forced there. Otherwise I suspect they’d still be the combo now.

All these reports i find funny that sam is supposedly trying to get rid of him,as sam might not even be here himself,so he cant get rid of players himself when he might not be here

We need a major, major defensive shake-up this summer. Out with Keane, Jagielka, Williams, Mangala and Martina. Baines to the bench. Bring in two new starting centre backs and a new left back. Holgate and Mori to challenge the new centre backs. Kenny and Coleman our right back options, and Baines backup left back.

Quite suprised this threads not been bumped having seen his pathetic duck-out-of-the-way for Deeneys goal yesterday. If that had been Williams he’d have been slaughtered. Not a lover of Jagielka or Williams but they do put their bodies in front of stuff.
He’s been horrendous since he’s been here...will he improve at all?

I'd rather wait till i see keane play in a back 4 that doesn't include a clown like Williams, a past-his-best Jagielka and Baines, an average right back playing at left back and inexperienced kids like holgate and kenny...

Been a poor season for him, but his confidence has beem shuck for most of it
