There is no doubt we need a severe root and branch change to our playing staff. However I am still undecided about Keane, I know he has struggled when he has played and his performances for Everton don't give me confidence that he can develop into the type of defender we need but then I think he played himself into the England team and helped Burnley establish themselves so there is obviously a footballer in there.
My position on him is that if we could recoup our money, or very near the amount, I would sell and invest in another centre half. I feel we would be lucky to get enough for him to buy quality so I would hang on to him and try and pair him with a faster player who can cover for lack of pace. We should be able to build a defensive unit that works as opposed to four individuals, 6 if you count holding mid-field.
