I'm not shocked. When he played for England last season he looked slow to me. As far as I can see he's basically a similar player to Shane Duffy. If we look at the summer signings, every big money one has basically got no pace. You just can't get away with that in the Premier League.

If we are going to play some decent football we need to press and have a high line. To do that effectively we need pace at the back. We haven't got it.

In the short run we are in a very poor place with this current defence. We need a couple of centre halves and a left back - sharpish!

The whole defence is shockingly bad, I just can't see what Koeman and Walsh were trying to build, it's just a mish mash of piss poor players.

I've just seen that Benteke chance courtesy of a limp attempt by Keane to clear.
No excuse needed there. That was poor. Symptomatic of his performances this season.

Add that to midfielders with no pace and no strikers and you currently get a side that plays no coherent football and classes a point away to Palace as a great result.

Yep as things stand I don't think any of them would be sorely missed. I'm completely at a loss as to how Walsh is still in a job tbh.

Only at Everton would you get a rumour that says we want Simeone whilst hearing that Allardyce has been interviewed and pulled out of the running lol

And with a bit of patience and some good coaching he is now beginning to put together some brilliant form.
So the answer surely is to encourage rather than criticise.

Talking to a city fan the other day who reckons he’s been their 2nd best player this season after de Bruyne and we’ve got lids saying he was rubbish because he (successfully) dribbled out of trouble against spurs when they wanted him to welly it out for a corner. Embarrassing.

It's a HUGE step up from Burnley. Jags was crap when he came in, turned out to be good business.

Keane is devoid of confidence. Just have a bit of patience for Christ sake.

Why should we be patient, we've played over 15 games already this season and we're conceded two goals a game on average and this lads played almost every game.

This lad is supposed to be a good CB and cost this club 25m and can't make simple clearance and looks like his playing in treacle.

You stay patient, but don't come bitching to anyone when we keep conceding cheap goals every game.

For my sins I watched the two England games last week.
He's really maturing, avoiding little blemishes like for us away are West Ham etc.
But in his second real season he made some mistakes so he's crap forever, apparently.
