This seems to be a bit of a recurring theme with a lot of players in this team but none of them are really standing up to be counted. Can't be helping him having different defenders round him every week.
"He's supposed to be a good CB"Why should we be patient, we've played over 15 games already this season and we're conceded two goals a game on average and this lads played almost every game.
This lad is supposed to be a good CB and cost this club 25m and can't make simple clearance and looks like his playing in treacle.
You stay patient, but don't come bitching to anyone when we keep conceding cheap goals every game.
The context is this club has spent 25m on him, and that alone should mean he should be half decent. This excuse about he's had different partners at the back and he's played too many games...good god get that man a tissue. The issues I've got with this lad are simple, he's too slow and unless we decide to play like Burnley(10 men behind the ball) he's not gonna do us any favours when we play open football because he'll get constantly exposed because of that lack of pace and positional awareness."He's supposed to be a good CB"
Where is the context?
Well he played very well in a Burnley team last season.
Question for you, who are the Burnley full backs? Without googling?
They hardly get mentioned because they never get forward, instead tucking in and protecting the CBs.
In the time he's been with us he's played for 2 different managers, had numerous CB partners, played both left cb and right CB, next to different full backs, in a team who like to get their full backs forward, with different CMs in front of him, none of which want the ball and been injured. Oh and is having to deal with European football and a different expectation.
And he's what, 23?
Context.
Nah you're wrong again mate. Pace isn't everything at the back. The context is this club has spent 25m on him, and that alone should mean he should be half decent. I'm might be wrong in your eyes, but pace is a large part of footie in the premier league and that's where we're playing not in Italy.Nah you're wrong again mate. Pace isn't everything at the back.
Ask any Italian CB.
Had you heard of Bonucci at 23?
I'm not saying Keane will ever hit those heights but the point remains valid.
You're frustrated that, after spending 25m, he isn't hitting the heights you expect.
In reality this season was always going to be a
difficult one. We then hopefully reap the benefits, just as City are now doing with John Stones.
Nope hence why I put the WHEN.You think Stones is crap?
Very good point.I'm might be wrong in your eyes, but pace is a large part of footie in the premier league and that's where we're playing not in Italy.
How come then why don't we have more Italian CB in the premier league?(without googling)
The Walsh situation is a strange one. I think the signings have all been on Koeman, which is why he's still there.Yep as things stand I don't think any of them would be sorely missed. I'm completely at a loss as to how Walsh is still in a job tbh.
Only at Everton would you get a rumour that says we want Simeone whilst hearing that Allardyce has been interviewed and pulled out of the running lol
Defence more than any other area needs stability. That's one thing Unsworth has tried to do. That must be first time we've put out same back four for 2 games running. As bad as they've been I'd keep that same back 4 until January. Can't be helping him having different defenders round him every week.

Very good point to, however those players had one thing over this lad especially and that's positional awareness.Very good point.
But the point remains that if you read the game well then blistering pace, whilst definitely a benefit, isn't essential.
Cahill
Kompany
Terry
Vidic
Defenders who have won the PL, in sides who like to be expansive, and have no pace.
It again remains to be seen whether he hits those heights.
Let's just persevere and be patient mate, that's all I'm suggesting.
