High fee, low wage.
Not sure Michy fits that.

Not many do. I know if I got paid what they did to do my job I’d likely do the bare minimum to keep myself in the job.
...it’s what makes the likes of Beckham and Rooney so special.
If we are offered Batshuyai (or any other player ) that came in and it guarantee'd we finish 7th this season I would absolutely bite their hands off right now. He's undeniably better than Tosun and Niasse - you won't find me disagreeing with that.
If he's available for less than £20m, it's also a very good price.
Number of reservations though
- He's a Chelsea player, that almost certainly means he's on a big, fat contract and it was only earlier this week that our owner said our focus will be on getting the wage bill down and investing in younger players on lower wages, even if it means big transfer fees.
- He did well at Dortmund last season, but that's a team who create lots of chances. Batshuayi is a decent finisher and is relatively quick and ok with his back to goal, but he isn't the kind of player who is going to pull defences all over the show with his movement to create space for himself or others, nor is he individually gifted enough to create opportunities for himself. I worry he'll need service to thrive here and we aren't exactly blessed with an abundance of creative talent - this Everton side creates less opportunities than a Tory government.
- Whilst he's undeniably better than what we have, we said the same thing a year ago about Walcott and Tosun. They were better than what we had at the time, but there's now a consensus that we need better than them if we want to progress, yet shifting them is another matter because of the size of the contracts they are on. I worry we'd quickly end up in the same place with Batshuayi - given he probably earns good money at Chelsea, it's unlikely he's going to take a pay cut to come here, so getting a player on £100k or so per week off the wage bill is no easy thing.
- It screams "7th place" to me. There's no way he's good enough to start for any of the top 6 teams, so it's a "best of the rest" signing. If that's where our immediate aspirations are, then fine, but given the difficulty in shifting high-earning players, people should recognise that even they see him as a stop-gap signing, he'll be here a while.
I think those comments are being taken slightly out of context though. The way I read it, he was just saying while we might pay £50m for a player, it wouldn't be the sort of established £50m player who wants £200k a week, it would be a Richarlison type who is on much less. I don't think there was anything to suggest that our plan is to always pay a lot of money for people, or to pay very low wages, just that it was difficult to balance big signings with a manageable wage bill. I have no idea whether we have any interest in Batshuayi, but I see no reason why he wouldn't fit in with the criteria for signings. In fact, he falls very much into the same category as pretty much every other signing we've made since Brands arrived.High fee, low wage.
Not sure Michy fits that.
As much as I detest everything about Chelski I dont think thats their style.Very much imagine Chelsea have used our name to get his name out htere as bait for the likes of Palace, West Ham etc to start a bidding war
Would take even if only short term.Very open minded about this deal, i always liked the lad and thought he had a lot of potential but for a poor move to Chelsea that his seen his career stall, this is basically the market we shop in now. Decent investment for the price doing the rounds (but i suspect it will be far more) and that could rise, wages id say would be reasonable enough for a PL striker.
Ill qualify that by saying i dont want to do this deal as a drunken sailor, i would do it if Niasse is moving on, Tosun definitely wont be this window. So player trading required.
In terms of squad management, one in, one out and ultimately we need at least three strikers capable of 15 goals a season, we dont currently have one. This lad has the potential for that.
Just watched a couple of YouTube comps of his goals from Chelsea and Dortmund. Yeah I know, I know...
Anyway, I suspect he'll get the flak Rom and Yak did - lazy, doesn't work for the team. However, he just sniffs around the box. Right time right place. Looks to gamble on balls across the six yard box - What we all moan about DCL and Tosun for not doing.
YouTube though, so partial picture. Thoughts?
