This is one of the pools we have to shop in sadly, taking a punt on turning around the fortunes of a player that once had a good pedigree. If he was a proven goal machine he wouldn’t be coming to us. We haven’t got 30 mill lying around for a top young striker who would want to sit on the bench behind Dom.

This could be a good signing and that’s the world we’re shopping in at the moment. Dele, McNeill, Batsuayi, maybe even Barkley all could be good players that strengthen the squad, but when you’re bottom half and with financial constraints there’s just no guarantees.

Yeah his record in England is around 1 in 5 when you combine his Chelsea & Palace stats. At Beskitas last season he scored 14 goals in 33 appearances and he's scored 25 in 45 appearances for Belgium.

Those honestly aren't bad stats for what would be a number two striker at a low fee..

Scored 14 last season with 5 assists and is better than Rondon so as long as he isn't too expensive it is fine by me. Give Dom some competition at the very least which is a good thing.

I don't think we can afford Broja and see that option on loan only if there are no buyers late in the window. Can see why we would be in for Batshuayi. Either way it will be late before we add a forward option now. They need to ensure we have someone and with all things considered we could do worse here.

He is first choice back up for Lukaku with Belgium and invariably does well when he plays for them.

If you want a pure centre forward to step in for DCL and aren't prepared to take a risk on a raw kid then I'm not sure you could do much better given our financial situation.

If you get him , Gana and another CM I would be confident that we will have enough to stay up and sadly that is the limit of our ambition until we can escape the P&S cycle.

Batshuyai has to be one of the most loaned players in recent memory. Signed with Chelsea for a ton in 2016, barely played for a season and a half, and has been loaned 5 times since. The most telling is that none of those teams gave him major minutes or signed him away. An upgrade on Rondon but not much else.
