Marten de Roon has openly admitted he wants to join us in the future so I think he should start by scoring a brace of own goals.

Can't believe we would give him a job after this backhanded compliment though:

"I won't get to play for Manchester City, or another club among the top five in England.

But I do think that I can develop myself to the level needed to play for a club like Everton"

Thanks Marten, you helm.

I reckon Rom will be up for this one, 1-3 to the mighty blues.

What a defeatist attitude for a player to have about his own ability.

Kante, Mahrez, Vardy etc came from obscurity to win a Premier League title, and Kante is now openly recognised as one of the best players in the league playing for the 2016/17 Champions-elect.

Gana came from a fairly similar position, he's toying with the Prem and I doubt anybody would bat an eyelid if he was playing at City instead of Fernandinho, Arsenal instead of any of their DMs, or any other of the so-called 'big' clubs.

From memory, De Roon had the most tackles and intercepts in the Serie A last season ... back your talent to make it to Barcelona or Bayern! For mine, if a professional footballer who comes out and publicly says "I don't think I'm good enough to play for a huge club" it should set alarm bells ringing.

Anyway, on the game ... Gana back in for Barry, perhaps Davies back in for McCarthy, and probably Mirallas back in for Lookman (tough away trip against a physical Boro side may not be his jam just yet!). No need for a back 3 against an isolated lone striker, so 4-3-2-1 for this one IMO.

Hard to break down they may be, but in Lukaku's vein of form, all we need is one chance. If we score first and force them out of defence then we will win this comfortably.

I expect Gana back in and presume it will be Barry to step aside. I would also expect McCarthy to retain his place and Davies to get a run out in the second half.

3-5-2 all the way for this.

Can only see n Everton in here. Looks like a typical "anything is a bonus" game for Middlesbrough and they think a 0-0 is a good result. Over confidence would be our biggest issue here, we can't take it easy we must treat these the way we would treat Man. City.
I see they have a player who wants to play for us, can't be a good position to be in and I am not convinced going away at this time of the year is the best thing. I think I would prefer the team at home working hard in conditions in which they will be expected to play.
However we shouldn't be interested in their issues, another win and keep pressure on 4th, 5th and 6th places.

I like this formation, Lookman as an impact sub.

Lookman on the scoresheet for this one. He'll go past a player on the edge of their box to break their defensive lines and drive one across the keeper.

After doing some away pub research, looks like Doctor Browns on Corporation Road is the best bet for anyone interested. 10min walk from station, 10min walk from stadium
