Migrant Crisis

We as a country do as much, if not more than any other country in the EU.

We simply can not take huge influxes of immigrants.

100's or 1000's yes.

100's of thousands and millions no.

We have no moral obligation to house millions of refugees, if they are genuine asylum seekers then they should not be coming to the UK.
And 99% won't - they'll stay in/around Italy, Greece and so on and so on; the closer parts to the places they're running away from. Geographically I have absolutely no idea why the UK is freaking out about this to be honest. I'm beginning to think that people in the UK have to have something to be absolutely outraged about, even if it's not gonna bother them as much.

Other countries are letting in far more than us anyway, yet if you read the press or listen to the right you'd think we were the number 1 choice location for migrants and that none of them were coming here because they were fleeing a war... but because they want to claim free benefits and live a life of luxury at the cost of true britains.

exaclty, im not gonna pretend im an expert on the numbers we can let in or infrastructure needed(unlike some posters) but its so obvious we can afford to do more

Id say #2 after Germany.

Have to pay close attention to the facts though.

The graphs/stats I keep seeing recycled across the likes of Twitter is from 2014.

What about from say, 2010?

It also fails to mention how much aid has been provided by each country...

Per migrant, the support the UK would provide would cost considerably more than most, if not all other countries.

The bit I struggle to understand are those who have fled the immediate danger, but continue to risk their lives in pursuit for a better life, rather than the initial prompt which was a safe life.
