Migrant Crisis

To be fair mate religious ideology is an important factor. A Buddhist being a pacifist is directly linked to his religion. A Muslim blowing himself up because HE believes (not all Muslims) that he will go to Paradise is directly linked to his religion.

Not all religions are equal. Some doctrines are worse than others.

When Buddhists butcher Rohingya is that directly linked to their religion or is it just a blip? Or did the Rohingya just have it coming?

It is a terrible thing when any child dies needlessly but the manner in which the media (especially the BBC) has grasped the death by drowning of the 3 y/o Turkish boy raises doubt and questions in my mind re: the media's motives and 'quality' of what we are told.

According to the media the Med must be awash with bodies, including children, why is this not being reported.

If the same cameras were to roam the streets of most towns & cities of sub-saharan Africa they would find dead corpses, including children, cast besides the road, often beheaded, possibly ravaged by animals .. it's horrific. Yet the same media elects to ignore this.

Yesterday's footage at Budapest Railway Station, there were as many photographers as (what we were informed are) migrants.

The BBC's German Correspondent (the fit one) tells us that most German's support Merkel's ambition to offer asylum / support to the migrants, really ? I lived in Dortmund at the in the early noughties, my gym buddy was a 1st generation Turkish migrant. I saw lots of open hatred towards him, he was regularly attacked / involved in racially motivated fights.

I simply don't believe a lot of what I'm 'hearing' through the media .. and having spent the last year working in Basrah I feel that I am informed.

Agree with your points other than the bit about Germany. Can't comment about what it was like 15 years ago in Dortmund but the news last night had a survey which showed most Germans are in favour (more so in the west than the east) of letting them in and the main difference of opinion is whether they stick with the current numbers or start letting in more.

Strangely enough, my eldest brother lived & worked just outside Dortmund (Arnsberg) in the mid 90's. He was warned by the natives about Dortmund's turkish population but ignored it as some sort of racism, and was subsequently ran through the streets of dortmund by several turks, all tooled up, all quite happy to do him some serious harm......Simply because he was alone, white, british & refused to pay the brass of a barmaid (german) the equivalent of a tenner for a glass of beer.

Make of that what you will.

Those thinking everything's gonna be rosy for those allowed into Germany - merkel's already been booed. She's already called people with rightful concerns 'disgraceful'. That's gonna help, innit?

Oh, so the muslims aren't butchering SEVERAL other religions (including their own) in SEVERAL other countries, then? That's just a blip is it? Ok mate.

Let's all try and stop people making dangerous and perilous journeys over to Europe by giving them even more incentive to make the journey....

People really are thick sometimes....
This rhetoric is amongst the most stupid and disgusting that I've heard come out of this crisis. You have no understanding as to what it must take for a person to uproot their family away from their roots and community in order to seek safety and opportunity.
What you're suggesting is build walls of sancturary whilst the people beyond are slaughtered

There is no clear link to the doctrine of Buddhism.

Catholics bombing abortion clinics is also a problem related to someone's religion.

I see the UK will take refugees, but only from the UN camps in Syria and not from those wandering around Europe. This is a very smart way of addressing the issue as there is no incentive to pay people traffickers and no transport danger......

Yes it was sad , but just been on about the fifty who were put in a ice container frozen to death, and no oxygen!
More disgusting than dare I say using one small boy, an event that has been happening over an age on the boats!

[QUOTE="SNova, post: 3841557, member: 28861" Some doctrines are worse than others.[/QUOTE]

exactly which is why anyone who rejects doctrine that separates people and takes from it just what brings them closer to others is to be admired, supported and not made to feel under threat because of what they wear, the colour of their skin or where they choose to pray.
And trust me there are people in this country who are Muslim, who keep it to themselves as much as I keep any religious views I have to myself unless asked, and they are scared by this non stop rhetoric. There are people who have lived here for generations who feel under threat because their families were originally from a country that people are now relating to Islam.
As has been said, if one person suffers because of a stereotype they did not create then it is an inhumane crime.

This is a video of refugees arriving at Hungary and refusing food and water. They are throwing it onto the tracks because they do not want to stay in Hungary. They want to move on to an MEDC. They want to move to Germany or Sweden. Places where they will receive more money and better housing for free. They do not want to move because Hungary is a war-torn country like Syria. They simply want more for free.

Now, here is a quote from a Syrian on that very train:

“The situation is so bad. We have so many sick people on the train. We have pregnant women, no food, no water,” said Adnan Shanan, a 35-year-old from Latakia, Syria, who said he was fleeing war in his homeland.

“We don’t need to stay here one more day. We need to move to Munich, to anywhere else, we can’t stay here. We can’t wait until tomorrow. We need a decision today, now,” Mr Shanan said.

But they were just offered food and water, weren't they? Hmm. Something isn't right. What possible reason could they have for refusing food and water when the have pregnant women on the train? Oh yeah, because they are in a safe country but deem that to not be enough.

People are saying that our government needs to accept more refugees and that anyone who disagrees is 'heartless'. Know what I think is pretty heartless?

This is a video of a man throwing his wife and baby child onto the train tracks in protest of not being moved on to Germany. That child is no more than twelve months old. A knock on the head can cause significant brain damage. Being thrown to the ground could kill him. Not to mention that his wife could be pregnant.

These refugees do not care about the safety of their wives and children. This is why that little boy drowned. This is why more will continue to drown. They all want to go to Western Europe and that just isn't possible, so they will do anything that they think will help them get there, including risking their family's lives to move from a safe country (i.e. Turkey, Hungary) to Western Europe.

I agree completely.

Absolutely bang on the money. Best post on here, bar none.

Simply? Because the west claims moral superiority, yet never really backs it up with genuine actions of assistance. Throwing money at it helps in the short term, long term, the actions of the western profit seekers need to stop fomenting the anger of the prophet seekers from the east.....nimps eh?

Moral superiority!? Hahahaha! lollollol That's a corker, is that! You really should have your own comedy show. You could call it: "The western decadent infidel's happy hour" , or suchlike.

Let's not help, either militarily or humanitarian-wise & see who claims the moral superiority then, eh?

The west "Never really backs it up with genuine actions of assistance"? lollollol Oh, my aching sides. You could get a series commissioned.

As I've said - damned if we do - damned if we don't. There's no satisfying them - or you. I've seen enough on here now. I'm out.
