Migrant Crisis

I don't know what the drama queens and liberal do - gooders think. I imagine that if the government decide to take in a significant number of people, they will form some sort of committee to oversea arrangements and that part of its remit will be to require policing agencies to come up with workable ideas to vet would be asylum seekers.

My post was limited to how domestic solutions would or should be approached.

I wasn't having a dig at you - your post was bang-on the money.

I just find it hard to believe that no-one has mentioned the security aspect already. Far too many have slipped back in to the EU and elsewhere from training camps and/or having seen action fighting for ISIS/AQ or whomever, and there are clear, direct lines to those who carry out the terrorist attacks. We're currently struggling to manage that as it is, and every attack brings fresh criticism that we're failing to stop these terrorists moving about, so to relax our [already lax] frontier controls and systems of checks etc would be a step in the wrong direction.

Don't get me wrong, I pity the poor souls genuinely fleeing conflict and its never nice to read, hear or see of anyone perishing in such circumstances - let alone young children. But there are factors at play here that most people don't consider, or choose to gloss over and think it'll be alright.

Superb post.

The pictures are heart breaking. My question is to those in France trying to get into the UK. These migrants are already in Europe so safe haven, but still putting their life's at risk to get into the UK, why?

We do need to tackle the root, maybe only women and children should be allowed to come over for now, get them out of the dangerous areas and maybe train the men to fight.

Farage mentioned this month's ago at the EU Parliament. He was shouted down there and on here he was called all sorts.

It seems common sense and logic is lost when people argue using emotion.

Australia faced this problem and we should take their advice.

Beach huts has to be the answer.

I don't think it was designed with this in mind, but a Dutch architecture company called Heijmans have developed temporary accommodation that they initially hoped would provide housing in derelict urban sites.

The structures are two stories high and are equipped with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room and a small outdoor space. The skeleton of each construction is made from wood, and the structures produce energy themselves, so the hope is that energy costs will be marginal, although it isn’t clear just how they will tap into the utility network of the city.

Each home is made off-site in the Dutch town of Tilburg and Heijmans claim they can be installed in less than a day. Dare say something like that would be ideal for situations such as this.

No easy answer to this , even if we take a few thousand its a drop in the ocean, and does it send a message out to even more to come making it even worse.
No matter what we do the middle east is a basket case and its not going to end anytime soon.
The rise in the right wing parties across Europe and ISIS in the mix make it even more a complex issue.

My simplicity is my obvious genius Bruce.

Fine line, very fine line.

Can I just clarify.. I have no problem whatsoever with refugees from places such as Syria.

I have the problem with fake asylum seekers coming here to abuse our system
