Migrant Crisis

Most countries in the world have signed up to the refugee charter (or whatever it is called). If they all work with Turkey and provide financial resources, Turkey then becomes an approved safe haven for all refugees from the middle East. Anyone fleeing the middle east just needs to get to Turkey then claim asylum. Any refugee found to be a legitimate refugee gets granted approved status. All signed up countries have a number of migrants they will accept. Approved refugee is granted one of those countries at random. No preference, no negotiation - you are offered a safe haven - take it or leave it.

No need for any more boat journeys or the back of a truck all the way to UK, Netherlands etc. No genuine refugee is going to refuse an offer to relocate to a country which will keep them safe from persecution. Economic migrants reduce as they are just as likely to end up in India or Botswana as they are in the UK or US.

Thousands die and nobody cares.

One child is photographed on the sand and all of sudden there is an outcry?

And not to point out that the entire point of their asylum is to escape war. So after getting to Turkey, they absolutely have to risk their lives AGAIN to get to Germany/Greece/France/UK because Turkey is such a terrible, dangerous place, right?

I don't buy it one bit.
A single death is a tragedy, a million a statistic.

Thats the point I was trying to make too.. well put!

In 1997 the UK population was 56 million.

It's now 66 million.

German politician lectures on this are going to fall on deaf ears as Germany hasn't seen anywhere close to the net population increase the UK has which is almost entirely immigration related. This is a fact. Birth rates in the UK have only increased in the past 15 years due to immigration!

This is causing what I would term 'immigration fatigue' in the UK.

This means the natural inclination of people in the UK is to view a humanitarian refugee crisis (Syria)

Confused with economic migrants abusing the asylum system

Negatively.

Germany has not seen the same levels of net migration the UK has nor the complete change of some parts of the UK or the social integration issues this has generated.

It's easy for German politicans to blame the UK.

They are looking after German interests not British. Plus won't acknowledge the extra 10 million people now in the UK in 15 years.

It's easy to lecture when they're not I'm the same position we are.

Refugees and Economic migrants

Are not the same.

Some of the latter claim to be the former.

Which is an abuse of the system

Is the UK supposed to open its doors to the entire populations of Africa. Asia and the Middle East?

It would seem some of the Welsh are institutionally racist too.

What disgraceful xenophobic posts. Hang your head Taff.

The hard truth is Iraq was better off under Saddam, Syria was better off under Assad and Libya was better off under Gaddafi. As long as you minded your p's and q's and didn't upset the apple cart you were fine.
Really? How many people were killed by those 3 "leaders"?

The problem quite simply is that the English are institutionally racist. It manifests itself in elections by who they vote for and by their attitude to anyone not of the British Isles that they once controlled.

Just when I thought we wouldn't have the same magic on the forum this season!
