I don't really see why in this instance. My knowledge of up and coming managers across the world is limited, but that doesn't preclude me from having reservations about somebody with no experience being given the job does it?
If people's reservation is "he's a risk" (which I what I initially mentioned) presumably that implies that they think there are people who AREN'T a risk... I'm curious who that is.

Your answer is obviously "I don't know", and that's fine... the answer to my initial question "has anyone come up with..." remains at "no"

I think @Lelouch has already covered that. Giving somebody with no experience a job is more of a risk than giving somebody with a track record a job, it's fairly obvious really. To use an example of somebody I definitely wouldn't want and who won't be an option at all just to make the point, Sam Allardyce would be less of a risk than Arteta. He has shown throughout his career that he will do enough to keep a team up at the very least. Arteta hasn't, he could be a complete car crash, unable to handle the responsibility at all. He has considerably more potential upsides, and for that reason I wouldn't rule him out, but he would undeniably be more of a risk. That's all people are saying really.

Ok, I thought the third qualification of being "someone we'd actually want" was understood without being outright stated, but alright...

Well because we can't predict the future so people can't really say yes x will work because we'd look a fool because we have no way of knowing specially since we can only attract certain managers due to our league positioning and not being in Europe. I understand why people want Arteta former player, Been under one of the greatest managers in the game for many years but he has not managed a single game and that is a major concern specially when Everton are trying to make haste to top 6 and Europe, Being an assistant to one of the best managers Football has witnessed isn't enough to convince me he is the right man for manager, Sorry.

Well yes, but I've already said that I don't have an in depth knowledge of available managers, or of our finances, or of our ambitions. So I have no idea what calibre of manager we may be able to attract. I've deliberately used an example of somebody I don't want, to highlight why people have reservations. I thought that would be understood without being outright stated but I outright stated it anyway just in case anyone struggled with comprehension. And what do you know...

Far from confident that he'd deliver the goods, but if the alternative is another flavour of the month PL manager then I'd take a risk on Mikel any day. Realistically I don't know how much pulling power we will have the next time we're looking for a manager.
