Yes of course it would be a risk but pretty well any appointment is a risk. Koeman on paper carried very little risk but he proved to be a disaster. Allardyce is perhaps the least risky, with defence minded percentage football guaranteeing a mid table finish but with no prospect of winning anything and crushing tedium for those watching. You can take calculated risks and if Arteta is interested in the job then Brands and Moshiri should be grilling him to find out exactly how he would have his team play tactically, would he be a flexible manager ( unlike Silva with his obsession with 4231), who would he bring with him, how would he set up the present Everton team based on the present squad? If, as I hope, he is a manager who will play in a progressive style that will emulate City's style of play under Guardiola then the rewards could be fantastic. In life the people who succeed are those who take opportunities when they arise. Silva's time is over so the opportunity is there. If Arteta is interested then I for one hope that we take the risk.

I would like Silva gone, but don't think he will just yet...though he has to comprehensively see off Norwich, if not then the International break might be a bit of a squeaky bum time for him.
I think he'll stagger on until the end of the season.
When there might be a bigger pool of candidates - Arteta included in the running for his job.

Brilliant; I find it strange how all the naysayers are mitigating too much risk/too little experience.

You have summarised succinctly...

If he becomes successful elsewhere he will then be beyond our reach, and we will just carry on with rubbish like Silva, this is why we need to go now for him.
First, It's highly unlikely Arteta would go for PL job first up. He needs time to develop his leadership where the stakes aren't so high.
Like the Championship or Eredevisie. The Dutch league makes more sense in the same way going to the Championship makes sense for Lampard.

Once he's done that, and if successful, Everton may have just as good as chance as Arsenal for example.
I get the lack of faith at the moment, but in three to four years time things may be different.
A significant factor, amongst others, will be the quality and make up of the squad he would be taking on - right type of leaders, quality young players to develop, players with the skills to suit his style of play. He has to have something to work with.
Basically the opposite of the shitshow Koeman took on.
We got Koeman, we can get Arteta - if things are better, lessons have been learnt.

And only if he's proven to be successful of course. Everton should not accept anything less.
We just need to get things sorted.

Not that I want him but those saying he hasn’t any experience need to remember we as a club operate under a DoF model now. We don’t specifically need managers anymore just someone to look after the squad and train the lads.
You still have to 'manage' though? Like you're the one in charge, the one disciplining people, and the one who players come to when they have an issue, the one actually responsible for the team you put out and the tactics. It's still a big difference from just doing what somebody tells you to do, and never actually holding the ultimate responsibility.

Same as you, I'm not saying I wouldn't want him, but the lack of experience would definitely be a concern for me.

Yeh I’m not referring to that stuff, that’s all a given, I was meaning more the general description of a manager that’s involved heavily in transfers etc. which is all lessened with a DoF/coach model. Less responsibilities.

No I understand what you mean, just saying a lack of experience would still be something to consider.

Am i the only one struggling to understand the fascination with Arteta?
I often think that he is only mentioned because of the love fans had for him as a player. The very same fans who forgot he bailed us when we needed him most, yet slam Lescott, Rooney and Stones for far less?

We need a proven manager to handle the transformation of the club from this inconsistent patch to getting back among the top 5 on a regular basis.

Never know, Lampard spent a season at Derby then straight into Chelsea, look how they have been doing and where they are now. So should we take a chance?
