It's like they have completely lost the ability to think or act for themselves.
Surely if customers are coming in and saying something is wrong with the cash machine, you should switch it off.
What made it worse, was the fact that despite telling her that it'd just swallowed my card, it didn't appear she was going to switch it off

Staff are not allowed to touch outside cashpoints mate.It's like they have completely lost the ability to think or act for themselves.

Not supposed to even put a sign on them, but most do.

I don't know but you can easily make one yourself. They sell for 300-400 euro. Extremely effective.
They are a superior species of flies. Very hard to kill. Organisms like fly predators don't work so you can't kill them before they hatch. Some are disease ridden which is a problem since they go for your blood. And the female ones are exra annoying since they circle your head constantly.
I understand that they can't touch them, but as you say, a sign taped to the machine would've done the trick until the engineers got there to sort it.

Some newer cashpoints have sensors that once a sign is on them, they think a device has been put on it for skimming. Thats the no signs reason.

Without going into specifics, i was involved in detaining two men on monday for skimming. Over 30 cloned cards and pin numbers, over £10k cash hidden in a jaguar car they had bought that day.. with cash.
Its huge organised crime and why people still don't cover up their pin numbers at the atm is still a mystery to me.

Many years ago, I found a leather bag in a phone box in London Road, that contained a substantial amount of cash, Camera and the passport of a Spanish lady.
As I was handing it in at the nearby Copperas Hill Police Station, the lady turned up and accused me of being a thief !
