minor things that make you fume

When the gallery whom are exhibiting your artwork close down, fail to notify you at all, eisrespond to any emails or calls... and thus upon my collection everything is gone.

The part of my contract which suggested it would be in storage is null because they have no storage anymore.

Wow. My uni degree work, and the custom hand made frames I paid for, gone.

All because they couldn't be bothered to reply to my emails etc or notify me they were closing down and thus no storage.

Not even minor, I'm fully fuming.

They must be somewhere though? Surely. Like, the actual building/studio where they were shown is actually still in existence isnt it?

I'm honestly just really gutted. I spent a lot of money getting these framed to look the best they could for the exhibition and was one of the first times I've really tried to promote myself and take a step in the right direction regarding my artwork.

I've read the contract and it states that if you failed to collect your work in time it would go into storage ahead of going to auction, obviously nothing in the contract about what might happen if they closed down.

They closed down 3 whole weeks before the exhibition finished, explaining the lack of replies I've gotten about me arranging the collection date for a day later due to work and transport etc.

Woman I spoke to on facebook who runs it was proper snide as well, has me on ignore now and claiming to be nothing to do with it despite her owning 50% of the business, like.

Not only that I spoke to a woman I knew who used to work there some months ago and she said she was told about they closing via email months ago.

Wtf. I'm just so down about this right now.

I have other versions of the same artwork I could get framed again but they are not my originals and I put so much effort into these and was so happy with the results.

I'm gutted for you mate, as my younger brother exhibits illustrations and I know how much work he puts into his portfolio.

Plus he's got quite a lot of work from exhibitions over the years too.

As others have said, start a full on social media campaign to shame them, especially Twitter, as there's an army of super
Wummers on here, who I'm sure would rally to the cause ?

Can you imagine? GOT mobilising as one!

Yeah but it's completely empty now, nothing remains. I fail to understand how they have done this.

Just a thought.

Could you check with the management company that look after the building, they must have details of whoever pays the fees for the exhibitions and maybe they have a forwarding address ?.

Are you thnking it's a scam and they've had you and others off ?

I could try that - how would I go about it?

I don't think they intended to scam us, but closing down without a word of warning (which affects the contract and collection plans, ultimately my plans) has completely had me off.

I'm assuming that the building is now locked up and no one is there anymore ?.

If that's the case, try typing the address into google and see what comes up. There may be some contact details there / names ?

If nothing relevant comes up, maybe a trip to the library to look it up in the electoral register.

Also, this may sound drastic, but a private investigator, will find them for a fee, normally about £150 maybe a bit less.
