minor things that make you fume

Re NHS, I can get a dental appointment any time I like and they are excellent.
Of course, you have to pay for a certain amount of the treatment. And there is less likelihood of there being time wasters!

We have to phone at 8 am and take our chance on getting through to a receptionist. Most times it's engaged so you usually have to keep ringing the number for up to 15 minutes. Then if you do get through it's often too late. All but urgent slots are taken. You can usually book a telephone appointment for the next day. It's no surprise that folk go on Google and self-diagnose.
Ours has an open surgery 9 til 10.30 Mon to Fri, just turn up you may have to wait for over an hour but at least you get medical attention.

Don't know if you do it in England but in Ireland if you spot a police speed check you'd warn others by flashing your lights so they'd know.. what irritates me is when you're behind someone going under the speed limit say at 90 kmph in a 100 kmph zone and then someone approaching flashes and the git in front breaks and proceeds to go at 20 kmph, just keep going at the speed you were at, instead of crawling along.

It goes toward the generally poor standard of driving... we get lots of people over here who brake whenever they see anything coming the other way, on the other side of the road - it's like they involuntarily flinch, or panic.

The Russian air crash today.

Passengers carrying their bags and cases on the runway after escaping.

Who grabs a bag in that situation FFS.
Not quite in the same area of urgency but in 1994 my ship went to the aid of a Taiwanese container ship which had been in collision with another ship in the English Channel and was sinking. We sent one of our lifeboats over to help rescue some of the crew (there were other ships helping too). When the lifeboat returned it was carrying about 10 of the container ship's crew, and they all had their suitcases with them. In the end the ship (Ming Fortune) didn't sink and the crew were returned with their luggage.

Those container ships look mental things.
I've been on some big warships and you see those container ships listing everywhere sometimes.

That plane crash is mental the more I think about it.
The pilot and crew would have given orders for the crash landing and so passengers would be seated in brace position.
If you were at the back your a goner as it was clearly already on fire.
Must have been utterly horrific.
Hence me finding it weird when I first saw folk with luggage..

I'm pretty sure most such cyclists are car drivers and are fully aware of the laws they flout. This is why I want bikes to have registration plates, so the owners can be made responsible. Currently they're unidentifiable.
I'm all for that as a recreational cyclist, if only to allow my body to be identified when I've been wiped out by some nobhead Lewis Hamilton wannabe racing to be first at the next red light.

Quite.

Yet see how the issue is diverted to some anonymous bean counter, and away from the person responsible? The person the nation elected to represent the best interest of the people?

How easily people forget that, grumble at the taxman yet vote for more of the same.
My Grandad, my Dad and my brother were all taxmen. Someone has to do it so we have an education system, a health system, a transport system, a welfare system. Unfortunately we also have to have a government which sees it's role as spending as much of the tax as possible on pet projects and itself.

People who stand in door ways or in the middle of corridors having a conversation utterly oblivious to the fact that they are stopping people getting past. Absolute knobheads of the highest order.
Great scot! this a billion times to the power of a gazillion. Education is especially infested with these clowns. Been a bane of mine for decades.

Feel your pain, brother.

I always thought I was ok, intelligence wise.

But I cannot begin to fathom why Uber, who lose circa $4 Billion a year, and have never ever made an actual profit, floated today, and is now valued at just north of $84 Billion.
