The way people are talking now, especially on TV and radio. Questions are increasingly responded to by employing the word "so" followed by the answer.
I've noticed this fad for about a year now. It's American in origin I suspect. No doubt there's some TV show to blame - just as Friends influenced a generation of young folk in their speech and body language.
It'll pass in time but it's annoying, especially when politicians do it!

I would just answer 'so' & nothing else !!

Not as bad as the people who finish a sentence with "so, yeah"
Although, I am quite fond of the "yeah, nah" for some weird reason

They’ve brought a kids choir into the work canteen and I wish they’d be quiet as I’m busy trying to be miserable. :dodgy:
30 dominos pizzas have turned up at our canteen for Xmas lunch and another 30 will turn up later for twilight shift.
All due to making the kitchen staff redundant earlier this year.

It’s a horrible media training device to give you time to think aka weasel out of any questions.
