minor things that make you fume

The encourager will be unemployed before they know it.

Same thing with being urged to use the self-checkout in supermarkets. Everybody knows whats the long term outcome, but trying to fight it is pointless. Corporate strategy will not be changed as the "cost saving drive" is being run by some Billy BigBollOcks in central management who won't let the inevitable issues get in the way of his/her bonus and promotion.

Pretty certain that those self-checkouts are loss making - I read somewhere that if one supermarket scratched them then others would follow suit.

Genuine question, why would they be loss making?

I think it's connected to shop-lifting, kiosk cost relative to the cashier operated equivalent - also around 10% of all self-checkout transactions are fraudulent in some way. There's also a need for higher cost IT support, customer purchasing fewer items than if they were to use traditional checkouts...

I scanned through a few articles online, not claiming any expertise.

The fact that one of my teenage years' favourite bands has for fifty years or more be known for only one tune. That tune raises its head throughout the calendar year and played ad nauseum. Amongst all the excellent work this group performed it is their worst and most corny effort that grabs the airways.
Soul Limbo by the ever excellent Booker T and the MGs

Sold an amplifier on ebay.

Paid evri to pick it up and deliver.
Friday - Evri said they tried to pick it up but couldn't (I was in and the parcel was outside the front door)
Saturday- collection would be attempted again.
Sunday - collected and in our system now. Also Sunday - amplifier is still by my front door. 🤬
Pay for Royal Mail to collect instead.
Cannot void Evri ticket for a refund because "they have my parcel."
Monday .... Royal Mail can't collect - sorry. Ffs!
Tuesday - I cycle down to the post office and join a galf hour queue (redundances) to post the parcel.
I ask for a partial refund for the collection service. "Oh no that's not us, the post office is nothing to do with Royal Mail." 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Can anybody, ANYBODY give an example where privatisation resulted in an improvement to anybody other than shareholders?
