minor things that make you fume

Fume of the century happened today.

Changing from the Northern Line to the Jubilee Line at Waterloo, there is a very long airport-style travelator. Quite incredibly and to my utter disbelief, people were standing still on it. Bear in mind this thing goes half the speed of walking pace, and too narrow to allow me to pass by with a pushchair.

So I'm stood absolutely seething behind a queue of able-bodied morons whilst the other folk squeeze past me, giving me the evils!

If it was just a normal tunnel they'd be walking, but make the floor move and they stop walking? Mental.

Still fuming.

It is the lazybastard culture. The same thing that causes people to have to park their car the absolute closest they can manage to their eventual destination, as if walking the extra 50 yards would kill them. In my last job, the building had 4 floors, and those working on the 1st floor would take the lift to attend meetings on the 3rd rather than, god forbid, use the stairs.

Sometimes the stairs are hidden away in the corner of the floor and makes more sense to meet folk at the lifts if they don't have floor access etc. But I do generally agree.

My current workplace has a set of stairs directly next to the lifts, yet you'll still see folk taking the lift down from the first floor.

Don't agree about the parking though. Why wouldn't you park near the entrance?

Some people arrive at our work, in our very large car park, on a sunny dry day, and for some reason trawl run the aisles finding the closest space they can to the turnstiles to the offices, which is then a 5 min walk at least to their desk. There are all lazy fatbastards, so why not park up anywhere and get the extra exercise especially as you have to walk the extra 5 mins regardless of where you park.

Do you deliberately park miles away and enjoy the walk?

I think we're mentally programmed to look for the path of least resistance at all times.

I always head to the front of the train each morning as this means I'm closest to the turnstiles at the other end, this avoiding the crowds.

I do, right at the far corner quite some distance away and then meander from there, but then I am now 'fitbited' and so it is all part of the daily steps. Not necessarily always that way!

Big 4X4 flashing me on the highway before trying to get me to move over but there was a car in front of me and police car to the right. So I gestured to the police car. He flashed again. So I turned around and gave him the point, or something like that.

He flashed again. Next traffic lights he ended up locking the door.

I'm a tit and deserve her scorn. I think she's going to leave me.

Players pointing to the sky when they score a goal. Has there been some kind of Billy Graham type conversion to God amongst professional footballers that the rest of us have missed ?.

You see the same thing at golf courses - people who park on verges rather than an actual car bay to save themselves a 20 yard walk. Then go for a 8km walk around a golf course.
