minor things that make you fume

My housemate has recently got a pet cat but she's never in and she's doesn't let it out the house, so the poor thing is sat on it's own all day miaowing and annoying everyone. I feel sorry for it but for some reason it's scared of me and so rarely lets me near it. So frustrating. If you can't look after an animal properly then don't get one ffs.
Mate, seriously, get out of there. I'm seeing a shocking number of similarities with a house share I had many years ago, right down to the cat, and it let to an all-out feud which led to the mother of all arguments, resulting in the cat girl leaving, and me following shortly after.

It's a minor inconvenience really, I just fancied a moan. I love the area I live in and my rent is pretty cheap. Could be a hell of a lot worse.

It's so expensive to have your own place in London. I'd rather have the extra money to enjoy myself and still save a bit. My housemates are all sound, just a few of them have annoying habits etc...
I know its something you have to put up with to live down there . I couldn't be arsed with it myself . It was bad enough living with my ex in her gaff.

It's not ideal. I want to get my own place within a couple of years, so that'll probably mean moving away from London.
This is what puts me off London.

I got a good job pretty much straight out of uni, salary is good and I'm good at doing it.

The problem is, I feel that if I ever want to progress and climb up the ladder onto bigger projects, etc. I will have to move to London.

I've saved up a fair bit without even trying while still living at home.

Better job opportunities are just so limited up here, though. I'm looking to relocate to Manchester and buy my own place there within 6 months, but even then London dwarfs it.

You don't have to live in London to work in London. Quite the opposite, in fact. Having the best transport network in the country, it's easy to commute from countless very nice commuter towns barely 30 mins from the city. Beats toiling on the M62 every day.

For clarity, people from the southern part of where? Mars?

Everyone pronounces it as if it rhymes with "Rolf", even Brummies and Geordies. Never heard anyone down south make the weird sound you've suggested.

You've obviously not listened properly then, or haven't heard someone from the home counties say it. And how long have brum and/or newcastle inhabitants been classed as southerners??

I actually worked down there in April/May, but stayed in hotels.
I went to Gerrards Cross, but I don't think I'd have a chance of buying anywhere there!

First time buyer, so it'll probably be a flat in the £100k-£110k mark, I doubt that would get me a spacious garage in London/commuter towns.

You're right about the M62, though. Hate it.

I was late to start my job as I had a change in career so I thought London would be good to kind of fast forward my career. Plus I'd lived within 10 miles of my parents house all my life and wanted a change.

I work in construction and London is the best place to be by some distance. There's so many huge projects.

I very nearly decided to move back up North earlier this year but I like London for the variety of stuff to do, and my room is almost as cheap as what student halls was so in terms of saving money I'm pretty well placed.

£100k sadly wouldn't even get you one third of a parking space in some places in Kensington. It's unbelievable.

My plan is to get somewhere on the Wirral for around that price next year, rent it out and move abroad.

Don't think £100-110k will get you much at all in the South East tbh, and nothing in London. I commute in from Southend, approx 50 min commute (great trains, absolutely no hassle whatsoever), £3k per annum. House prices are perfectly reasonable (3 bed semi roughly £250k, flat probably £150k), but the London salaries are usually much higher than you'd get elsewhere in the country (depending on your industry, obviously).

I'm an Assistant Project Manager now. Recently turned down an interview with Turner & Townsend, a really big company, because the job was in London.

Think my plan for now is to buy in Manchester, as it is an up-and-coming market, then see where I am at when I'm 27/28 before making the move down South.

Unfortunately I was working Wembley/Brent ways a few days after us losing the semi-final!
