minor things that make you fume

Sorry you can't be " street " when you're called Timothy.

It's like @Ashtonian packing in his job and deciding to become a rapper !

Ash MC - 8 Mile (walk to work in shoes)

His palms are bloody
Knees weak, arms are heavy
There's Fray Bentos on his pants already, meat and tatty
He's nervous, but he keeps on forgetting,
His bus pass, so just walks instead, he tries to talk to his colleagues, but they just keep on blankin'
He tries to walk out, but his feet got gout!

@Tubey put a tune to this will you ?

I'm not so sure about that. They are always stitched with a very loose tacking stitch, and if they weren't meant to be used, they wouldn't actually put a lining in there.

More likely they're tacked closed to prevent stuff getting into the pockets during the construction process.

That's what they told me at a store once.

I googled it now to be sure.

"Why are suit jacket/blazer pockets sewn shut? It’s so the garment keeps its shape while in store or in transit. Remove the stitching once you get it home with a seam ripper, small pair of scissors, or knife – just as you’d do with the chest pocket or center/side vents. Never overburden your suit jacket pockets with heavy or bulky items. Preserve their integrity by limiting their contents to smaller, lighter and thinner objects. This will also keep the jacket’s silhouette looking as it should."

I never open them, for me they don't serve a purpose. You can't put larger stuff in it since it may create sagging. It may deform the suit. Also with a lot of these slim fit suits nowadays; you'd even struggle trying to put a credit card or such in there.

I tend to keep my keys in one pocket, and a Fray Bentos pie in the other, for emergencies.
