That sub was a joke, still think if he had of gone after the Derby we would of won yesterday, the players are there, yeah Kev has issues in himself but I think anyone would with this guy messing you about.
I liked his villarael team, but city are sometimes stupidly porous at the back and he's brought some uber-turd defenders for them. Potentially not going to cure some of our flaws?

If Bill had have had some balls Martenez should have gone after the Derby, it was set up perfectly for Royle to step in as caretaker and take us to FA cup glory 21 years after he did it before, what a story that would have been.

That would have been fantastic, although I think moral would have been down in the dressing room with the players. Although it looks like he's lost most of the players anyways.

Yes that is a good point, the thing is in theory we have good defenders, but Martinez has somehow made them forget how to do it. Perhaps if we had Pellegrini he wouldn't need to buy any, as they are here already and he could get them playing again. But there must be some issue regarding defending in training as this has been allowed to go on to long, if Martinez needed a good defensive coach he should have made sure he got one, but he is stubborn so probably thought he could sort it himself, but he's failed with that miserabley.
True enough, it's obvious Martinez has created a situation where we're defensively lax and can't arrest it. All we can do is replace him and the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, as they say.

When you think of the defenders he's bought i can only think of mangala, otamendi, and demichelis.
Demichelis is an alcaraz type signing, supposedly solid, experienced and used to the style he wanted to play, short term.
Mangala and otamendi were both highly rated and sought after, however they've struggled to adjust to the style of play over here, it happens.
Indeed. Significant sums spent on players who don't look very accomplished in the prem doesn't fill me with confidence though. Still, as you say it happens, so we can only hope he'd be more successful in that regard at Everton. Assuming it happens etc.
True, the point is was trying to make though is not that he's wasted the money per se, but that he managed to get two very highly rated centre halves to join city ahead of a number of high profile european suitors...
The transfer fees were probably slightly inflated due to clubs being aware of city's financial ability but they where being linked with big money moves to other clubs at the same time...
