Mirallas return

There's only one way to judge the decision to play him in this fixture - did he come through it?

Obviously breaking down inside 17 minutes answers that question with an emphatic 'no'.

How many other games has he limped off first half? How long does a normal hamstring injury last?

This lad is crocked and looks as thogh he needs some sort of surgery to sort it out. Either that or he obviously likes playing 20mins per game.

Home games against WBA and Villa...not full games...as long as the conditions are ok. There's loads of this season still left. It's not like we're near the end of the season and he might as well as throw him in.

It called for a bit of common sense. We all want Mirallas on the pitch, He's done no one any favours though by rushing him back.

And if he were to go off injured after 20 mins in either of those games then would it have been a woeful decision?

I think the last time moyes said it was just a precaution, was the sunderland game. What happened, he was out for a month, came back for spurs and lasted 45 mins. Very worrying that he is injured again. Hindsight is a great thing, but 20 mins the other night after nearly 6 weeks out, with no under 21 games under his belt and then he starts him in the next game. None of us are doctors, but it doesn't take a genius to work out the lad has been rushed back too quick. Massive week in the transfer window. At least 2 reinforcements required, as the side looks jaded and tired. Would be miraculous to have a storming second half of the season, with the players looking jaded.

Surely he has been in full training though - which would involve all the things you would physically do in a game and he wasn't subject to a late fitness test. Therefore, why wouldn't he have started?

I hate this blame culture. When something goes wrong there doesn't always have to be someone to blame. Miralles played a good half hour against the Saints and was fine, he's obviously trained since then. There was absolutely no reason not to start him today, and if you're being honest any of you lot would have done the same.

How people are blaming Moyes for this is beyond me. Mirallas had ages out, and played a full 30 minutes against Southampton without issue. Moyes said he thought Kevin wouldn't be playing the full 90 from the get go, there's no way he could legislate for an injury recurrence after 15 bloody minutes.

Saying he 'got it wrong' when he got the okay from medical staff and watched him play half an hour with no issue earlier in the week is absurd. It's not a case of right and wrong at all.

Go look up the recovery periods for hamstring tears and tell me he was brought back early. He wasn't. He had over two months on the sidelines, he had as much time as he should have had and then some.

Does this cameo appearence lean more towards sicknote status mate

Have you had one too many to drink mate? Hes been out that long that he should be able to last longer than 17minutes. The lads got serious injury problems.

no i ant,its a fierce league alot faster than the greek league. When he been out for as long as he has with hamstring problem it should be obvious not to be starting him so soon.Bringing mirallas on with 20 mins to go when opposition players are getting tired he can get ample time to to stretch him hamstring gradually instead of starting games where players are fast and fierce.Yeh he should be fitter but he isn't at moment has he been injured for a few months.I would rather him come on for 4 games as a substitute than him starting games.liming off then be out injured for another 5/6 games.

He was like this when he first camr with us but Its not his falit Its notes for starting him he would be ok.

1995. Give the kid a break.

last time we won a trophy lad, people need to realise with the small squad we have Moyes needs to be more careful than the likes of mancini, villa boas etc. who can replace quality with quality, we risked baines our best player with an ankle problem against some league 2 opposition, and we start mirallas our most creative outlet who has just come back from reoccuring injuries against a championship side sorry but Moyes should take some of the blame for this.

Playing in the cold weather is the worst thing you can do when coming back from an injury like Mirallas', like other posters have said, he should be brought on with 15 to 20 mins left, ease him back to full fitness.

I remember a few seasons back the same happening to Baines, he just came back from an injury and managed to finally start a match, the trouble being it was a freezing cold Wednesday night game against Arsenal, cue, hammy going after about 10 -15 mins and 6 weeks out.

I just hope he is allowed to sort it out once and for all, even if it takes 6 to 8 weeks or if he needs an operation, then have the operation. We need this kid playing 90 mins week in week out, the lad hasn't finished 1 game for us yet and it just isn't acceptable.
