What makes people think Southampton would sell Shaw to us? They're in a better position than us.

Apparently it's £1m upfront and then so much more based on appearences and a goal bonus?!

He is actually very similar to Distin but better on the ball. Pacy, strong and good in the air. Can play left back but better at centre back

It would be top business one out four in. Really that's the only reason to sell for me - fellaini out and Barry and McCarthy in with the rest going to the bank is disastrous - we need to properly add to the squad

I imagine he'd only come if Baines is sold and then he'd be first choice left back before taking over from Distin. He's good enough to compete with Distin for starting position already imo

Edit - fee rumoured to be around £10m which is why i think he'll only be an option if we're selling Baines.

I hope we keep Baines but this lad would ease the blow a bit as he's the sort of young top player we should be looking at
