Who is better, De Grom or Harvey?
Based on what I believe to be my bias opinion, deGrom every time. Although both are different styles, I think deGrom has shown so much consistency over the last 18 months, barely gets a sniff in the media, and just knuckles down and gets the job done, an exquisite sportsman.
I feel this could have been Harvey, but his agent showed him the lights, and he was appearing all over the news in the run in to the Mets All Star game in 2013. He's definitely more of an ego, and at present is not showing me any reason why the Mets would want to keep him on. He spat his dummy out over playing over his capped innings (he missed all of 2014 after Tommy John surgery), set by Terry Collins and the Club doctor back in Spring Training, whereas deGrom, Syndergaard were more flexible, which is understandable, but given the fact the Mets
COULD have played him last season in September as he was near ready, they let him be more flexible and do it his way. He's also recently missed a training session due to 'Unacceptable' circumstances, was told not to bother coming in, and then still came in to insist on apologising.... to apologise? or get the attention on himself? No doubt he's a talented pitcher, absolutely no doubt, he is still recovering from TJ after all, but I believe deGrom will be a more complete pitcher myself.
If i was asked who do I want starting a possible game 5 in LA (excusing rest days), it's deGrom. I'm sure i wouldn't be the only Met fan to say that. My opinion on Harvey may be negative, but Boras is a rat, he makes players care about one thing... $$$, not winning.
Garrick, SN etc.. may disagree with me completely on this subject, but I can't help but be annoyed with it.
