I'm not a baseball fan, but can't say I've ever watched a game. Anyway, I'm off to North East america next summer and baseball is the only sport during June so might as well take a game in. What's the best teams/grounds to visit? I'll be going to New York, Boston, Toronto, Chicago and Washington. Thanks.

Uh now that we are good Pittsburgh. Wrigley is going through renovations and supposedly people are having to piss in their beer cups. Washington is good but zero atomsphere. Fenway is kind of cramped (plus expensive) but people say its great, Toronto is a dome. The Yankees are insanely expensive. The mets have have meh side in a meh stadium.

I'd say the White Sox. its in a bad neighborhood but its easy to get to on the subway.

I really hate the Cubs and hope they are terribad forever. So this amuses me.

The Cubs are hitless in their last 29 at-bats with runners in scoring position on Opening Day, including 0-for-8 tonight against the Cards.

Regression to the mean. We've got that. I didn't hate your Steelers back when they were bad, Rook. Do now, but not before Chuck Noll got to town. Don't hate Chuck, just the team. Yes, I am really that old.

Pittsburgh, even if they are bad. Great stadium, good sports town, except for baseball. By next year, Wrigley will be fine and the team will be better. Get there early and pub crawl the neighborhood. Take the el to either park in Chicago, Northside or Southside. If you're going to the Southside take a local along with local knowledge or swerve it. Really dodgy neighborhood.

If you're in Boston when the Sox are at home, go to Fenway. Just go. Trust me. It's what Goodison could be in the best of all possible worlds, where money is plentiful and all things are possible. The closest thing you will find in America to the Goodison experience. I've been to both, though my last trip to Fenway was when it was still a lot like Goodison is now and the Sox were pretty meh.

Get games at Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, Nationals Park (Washington), in that order/priority.

*Comiskey too, forgot about der White Sox.

Pittsburgh is a good baseball town. Its just the people didn't care because 3 rivers was terrible for baseball (good for football though) and the ownership plus front office was awful. For 20 years any good players were traded on the cheap/never signed while the team raked in profits (thanks to revenue sharing and no salary floor in baseball they were more profitable than the Steelers despite playing crap baseball for years). The ownership is still bad but the front office/scouting is competent now, but the fans do care and as long as they play >.500 baseball they'll have 3 million in attendence this year.

As far as the Steelers go we do have a hateable fanbase who thinks that for the most part a SB victory is a birthright or something (though I will admit there was an appriciation for what the team accomplished this year despite a playoff loss, a first in a long time). We are probably the closest thing to a pro version of Alabama fandom.

Pirates fans were abused by their owners/mgt for 25 years. True. Soz abar that.

Cubs fans are just abused by baseball. That's all, just the game.

That place on the Southside is no Comiskey. I wouldn't have a goat rodeo in that joint. Old Comiskey - ah, now, that was a ballpark. The food, the smells, the element of risk. Those days are gone. Well, except for the risk. There's no soul in the new joint.

I won't disagree, but will point out that you support the Northsiders.

Wouldn't change my list either way. Fenway, Wrigley, Yankee Stadium are the top three in those cities. (Although I DC you're not too far too consider Camden Yards, which should make any list.)
