MLS 2022

Insigne and Bernardeschi could get you CL in any league but the PL and they're on the same side in MLS. Just ridiculous.

I live just on the otherside of the lake from them.

I don't watch the MLS other than 10 to 15 mins here and there when I come across it, but I have been intrigued by the number of guys in their late prime they're getting now. Not to mention that they've seemed to accept also being a feeder league, I know they'll publicly state larger ambitions. But that is decades away barring some break down in uefa/fifa's power structure.

I haven't even watched a toronto game yet, are they entertaining?

It's wild how much better those two are. And the rest of the team is good already so yeah it is pretty cool.

I think I've posted this before but MLS should be pushing hard for a European Super League because then they become the second league on spending power almost immediately. There's a path for MLS being a major league in the next couple of decades.
Didn't even read this post yet when I wrote my previous one, seems we are on the same page in terms of thinking.

I am torn on the apple deal. Not sure if it's a good move for them to move from espn's streaming service. Idk any MLS fans, but ik tons of soccer fans who have espn+ because they need it for la Liga and Bundesliga. Lots of italian descent where I'm at, was surprised in the last few yrs by the amount of people who told me they've got paramount for that. I know plenty of non soccer fans who have it for hockey and baseball.

It's probably just my social circle, but I don't know a soul who has apple+. That crowd will just get hbomax or whatever, my point is, they're not gonna get any cross over from people who have the service already. I think that's gonna be more damaging to the leagues growth than they think.

Still the larger thing is this, waiting on domino's to fall in europe

I think it is a bad move. I have Paramount and ESPN+. I'm not adding Apple for MLS so I just won't be seeing anything not nationally televised. I have to imagine a lot of soccer fans who are more casual on MLS will be similar so you're just losing those eyes.

Exactly how I feel about it.

Still figuring out who I will adopt as my MLS team to support. At the moment the front runners are Atlanta, San Jose and DC United. Atlanta because I like the atmosphere they generate at their stadium, San Jose because they play in royal blue, and DC United just because I have some family in the DC area and like the city.

Also I will always root for whatever team Inchy manages.

So far the teams I like least are Inter Miami, because of that ferret Phil Neville and the nepotism going on with his and Beckham's sons, as well as the NY/NJ clubs. I have family in NJ so they would logically be the team to root for but I just can't root for Red Bull. At least they have some pre-Red Bull heritage though.

It's amazing how the referees screw Seattle out of every game where they drop points... allegedly. Wonder who the kopites of MLS are, here's the answer.
