...i’m not much of a believer in the ‘we’re not playing a system that suits him’ excuse. He was bought to play in this team, a team that plays a lone striker. It’s a brilliant position because you should be in the game all the time. Richarlison showed how to play it yesterday, Kean has the mobility, attitude and physicality to be brilliant at it. He’s got everything to terrify CBs.

He needs to start delivering and become more effective.
Have to disagree Eggs, how a player performs is very much determined by the way the team is set up and the tactics we adopt. How could it be otherwise? With regard to Richarlison he had the massive advantage of us playing a system that didn't isolate the lone forward and that moved the ball with pace. Put Kean in that same team with the same tactics and we'll see a different player than the one we've seen so far.

....certainly, it becomes easier for everybody when the team plays well but Richarlison was still isolated at times, he successfully ran the channels without support, won headers and made life difficult for competitive CBs. It’s the challenges a lone striker has and it’s what makes the role so brilliant to play. Indeed, it’s an even more important position when your team is under the cosh or not playing well.

I agree with your point, but it’s still a lonely and challenging position at the best of times.

He was unlucky not to get a proper go against one of the most open defences that Everton will face all season.

Missed a good opportunity to get him off the mark there.

Get him out on the right against Brighton - we all know Walcott will revert to frustrating the living daylights out of us - give him the chance to get on the ball and interchange with Richarlison if we are going to keep Rich up top.

Giving him bit part appearances from the bench will do nothing for his confidence.

I would definitely have eased him in on the wing before now, but Walcott deserves to keep his place for at least another week.

Richarlison will struggle against their compact, well-drilled defence, so Kean's chance will come a lot sooner than it did yesterday.

...it would be folly to drop Walcott, he must’ve been on fire in training as Silva was very keen to start him and has spoken favourably about him.

Keep Kean to the cameo appearance, his attitude looks great so he’ll be itching to get on and make an impression. If he’s what we hope he is, he’ll deliver and force his way into the team. We really need him to be effective.

If Walcott hell the whole team has a typical Everton away day performance how long will fans be saying that though mate?

I know you should never change a winning team and all but we said the same about Jags after his boss arsenal performance (also at home) - we kept him in the side on that basis and he stunk the gaff out away at Fulham.

For me this is where I want the manager to be bold and go with a team he wants to develop going forward - Walcott has had way too many poor games than good so the question is - is it a risk (and rather easy decision) to play him over a £27 million kid who really needs to start getting regular time on the pitch?

He’s a 19 year old kid adapting to a new country and style of football.
