2019/20 Moise Kean

DCL started in his natural position, Kean didn't. DCL had last and this year to prove his worth and he has failed in my opinion. I get your point and I would agree if I could see any potential in DCL. But, I think he is terrible.

He wouldn't start for any other team in the league.

....Kean started in an attacking position, he wasn’t playing as a conventional winger, he wasn’t working back and covering Coleman. He got the ball with defenders in front of him, he got the ball in the box, he was put through with a run on goal.

Lots of strikers start from those wide positions, even Lukaku profited from it. Kean wasn’t asked to play like Stanley Matthews!!

We'll never know for certain how many (if any) other teams were really in for him and what might have been said to persuade him to sign. But doubt this was the scenario he had in mind. Confidence is such a big part of the game no wonder he's struggling.

Eggs, very often he was at the halfway line at the edge of the pitch and had Coleman and Iwobi taking up space around him. That run he had came when he didn't have Iwobi and Coleman near him and was more central as a result of breaking out from the left side, similar with the other chance where Richarlison played a pathetic pass in the box.
He's a centre forward and that's where he should be.

I'm not sure on the numbers but my overall assessment of DCL is based on this year and last and I feel he isn't no where near the level that's required. His finishing is terrible and his overall game isn't great at all. Kean's potential I feel is far superior to that of DCL. To even make the Juve bench is impossible and he has already represented his country. To progress he needs game time, not 10 minute cameos.

Potential means nothing. We need players doing it right now not how good they’ll be in 3 years.

Even if they do have potential, without games you'll never see it and they'll never realise it.

Look at Gnabry. Couldn't get a kick at a West Brom that got relegated.

Gone to Bayern, looks like a world beater and is a regular for the World Champions. Kean could be much like that, he definitely needs game time.

It doesn't really need to be said again but he's been pants. He's got to do much better with the chances and minutes he's given, whatever position that may be in, as the margin for error for Silva is so small, we can't afford to be carrying passengers.

He may have to play from the left, from the right or as a second striker and show that he can be disciplined and relied upon for the team in those positions.

Yeh Kean does need minutes and happy to give him them if he starts showing in his cameos he deserves them. People moaning he played as a wide forward in the cup are missing the point: doesn’t matter where you play you can still play well and influence a game. So far he looks too raw for a starting striker when the team is playing as bad as it is. People may hate DCL but least he’s taking his minutes this season.

I get it but none of this is relevant to what I said though really.

Kean may very well be superior, the thing is at this exact moment in time he is not. I don't mean overall either I mean on current form DCL gets into the team because he has been scoring goals and looking alright whereas Kean has done nothing so far.

What he did at Juventus last season is not important to us. We are not Juventus, we are not playing in Serie A and it's not last year...

He does need game time of course he does, but as I said we do not have that luxury right now. Lets get a bit of daylight between us and the bottom of the league and then see what happens, whilst we wait for that time Kean will have to make do with his 10 minute cameos and do something with them.

That could be due to Marco instruction, his work rate when I have seen him play has been fine. Due to his battling we scored a goal not long ago. Not sure of the Matthews comment.

Juve fans were gutted to see him leave and that from people who get to watch Ronaldo each week. Lets play DCL and watch him run round like a headless chicken for a year all because he 'works hard'.

Well it kind of was all relevant. We will agree to disagree.

DCL has been taking his chances well so far but I want more than 20 minute cameos where our formation is all screwed up because we're chasing the game.
He's also only played up front with Siggy behind him so Iwobi and him are untested yet, He's a striker for me he has a burst of pace and trickery and likes to play on the shoulder of the defender, I'm dying to see him score tbh.

He just had 45 mins with Iwobi. He was a wide forward with Richarlison not a right mid.

...I like the lads attitude, he plays like the game matters but he really has got to be more effective to get game time. I wouldn’t blame Silva in the least, I’m 100% sure he wants Kean to be as good as we hope he‘ll be but only Kean can turn that situation around.

He’s not got much quality competition to overcome but only he can make it happen. I am in no doubt that Tuesday night was a great opportunity for him, the fact he didn’t grasp it is simply down to him.
